Abstract
PURPOSE: A polyester containing groups of sulfonate metal salt is melt spun and drawn under specific conditions, thus producing title fibers suitably used for clothing and carpet because of their deep dyeability with basic dyes and high bulkiness, with high productivity and operability.
CONSTITUTION: A polyester that is mainly composed of ethylene terephthalate unit and contains groups of sulfonate metal salt is melt spun through spinneret with non- round nozzles and cooled with cooling fluid flow right beneath the spinneret. Then, the yarn is passed through the heating zone kept over 80°C on the way to the winder and drawn by the friction force with air under temperature gradient, thereby the drawn yarn is directly produced. The yarn take-up speed V in m/min and the flow speed of cooling fluid Vq in m/sec satisfy equations IWIV and the cross section modification ratio in cm-1 satisfies equation V where d is the denier of filament.
