Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce inclusions in products and reduce melting losses per molten steel of tundish by segmenting the tundish to plural receiving and tapping regions with the ingates of refractories having through-holes in the lower part and changing the receiving regions for every exchanging of ladles. CONSTITUTION:A tundish 10 is partitioned by ingates 11 having through-holes 12 in the lower part, by which it is segmented to a plurality of receiving regions 13a thru 13c which receive molten steel from a ladle 1 through an air sealed pipe 2 and tapping regions 14, 14a which tap the molten steel into molds 3, 3a through an immersion nozzle 15. When the molten steel is poured from the ladle 1 into the receiving region 13a,the molten steel reaches the tapping region 14 by passing the through-hole 12 of the ingate 11 or reaches the tapping region 14a by passing through the receiving regions 13b 13c. It is then poured into the molds 3, 3a by passing through the respective immersion nozzles 15, 15a. The height of the moltel steel level 16 is maintained by the through-hole 12. In the case of exchanging the ladle, the molten steel is poured into the receiving region 13b.
