Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of manufacture and facilitate the maintenance by forming a coating and drying apparatus and heating furnace as a collective unit and setting a bulb heating temperature to be below the strain point of the bulb.
CONSTITUTION: When a bulb A is supplied from a point (a) to a bulb holder 3, it is transferred to a bulb washing section 4 to be washed there and then transferred to a drying section 5 with the movement of a bulb transfer conveyor 2. Then, as the bulb A reaches a fluorescent agent suspension coating section 6 a predetermined quantity of fluorescent agent suspension is sprayed onto and coated on the inner surface of the bulb A. As the bulb A is subsequently brought to a solvent drying section 7, the solvent in the coating film is dried. Thereafter, the bulb A is heated in a heating furnace 8, whereby a desired fluorescent film is formed on the inner wall of the bulb A.
