Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify working processes and obtain a large volume of magnetic heads in a short time by providing winding holes at the central part of a magnetic material thin plate ribbon, locally heating the central part thereof to degrade magnetic permeability then cutting the ribbon to head chips. CONSTITUTION:An amorphous magnetic material thin plate ribbon 7 is mounted freely drawbly to a stock feeder and is delivered out at a specified speed. In the first process, winding holes 8 are punched at spacified spacings by a press 9 or the like in the apporoximate center of the ribbon. After working of the winding holes 8, the ribbon 2 is sent to the second process, where the approximate center of the ribbon is radiated in the moving direction by, e.g., a laser beam 11. Magnetic material, when heated, degrades its magnetic permeability considerably. The ribbon formed with gaps in this way is sent to the third process, where the ribbpn is cut in the direction perpendicular to the lengthwise direction of the ribbon between the winding holes. In this way, the working processes may be considerably simplified.
