Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the drawbacks that the optical axis is misaligned, that the production is complex and that the assembly and adjustment require much time by forming the OD center of a collar having a preset size with a small bore, through which optical fibers can be inserted. CONSTITUTION:The OD of a collar 1 is finished accurately to a preset size with a tolerance of + or -1 micron. The collar 1 is worked and formed at its OD center with a bore 2 which is alightly larger than the OD of such a fiber 5' as has the jacket at the optical end of the fiber 5 removed. Then, a guide hole 3 is formed accurately in parallel with the bore 2. The fibers 5 and 5' are inserted into the connector plugs thus produced. The leading end of the fiber 5', which has its end faces treated, is brought into line with the right end face of the collar 1 and then is fixed in the plugs by means of an adhesive 6. A housing 4 supports the collar 1 having a built- in fibers and is used when the plug is inserted or removed through the grooves.
