Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a high-quality polyester in a short polymerization time, by initiating polymerization with addition of terephthalic acid to bis (2-hydroxyethylene) terephthalate monomer.
CONSTITUTION: Terephthalic acid is added to bis (2-hydroxy-ethylene) to initiate the polymerization, thus giving a linear polyester. The terephthalic acid is preferably used in an amount to give a carboxyl equivalent of 100W800. Manganese, cobalt, antimony, manganese acetate, antimory oxide, etc. may be used as the polymerization catalyst in an amount of 0.01W0.06mol% based on the monomer. Trimethyl phosphate, trimethyl phosphite, triphenyl phosphate, etc. may be used as a stabilizer.
