Abstract

PURPOSE: The title device designed to use elastic rolls for a long time in good conditions, wherein endless metal belts are put around the outer peripheries of the elastic rolls to calender a web together with the adjacent metal rolls placed between the elastic rolls.
CONSTITUTION: Metal rolls and elastic rolls are piled up alternately in layers to form nips, through which a web consisting of a beltlike material such as a synthetic resin, a sheet of paper, etc. is passed and calendered. The web W is pressed and calendered by means of the endless metal belts 21 put around the outer peripheries of the elastic rolls 6 and the metal rolls 4 placed between the elastic rolls.
