Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a Hall element which generates no unbalance voltage by providing two Hall elements onto the same substrate under the same conditions, by forming current electrodes with their direction perpendicular, and by connecting the electrodes so that unbalance voltages obtained by voltage electrodes will cancel each other.
CONSTITUTION: Electrodes of 131 and 221 of Hall elements 11 and 12 are supposed to be formed being shifted in the right upper direction from electrodes 132 and 222. When currents are fed to terminals 21 and 22 in magnetic field 0, element 11 has potential (e131) greater than (e132) and element 12 has (e232) greater than (e231). Elements 11 and 12 are formed closely under the same conditions, so that an equation of e131-e132=e232-e231 can be obtained. Therefore, when electrodes 131 and 232 high in potential are coupled while e132 and e231 are connected to voltage terminals 31 and 32 respectively, potential differences cancels mutually and the voltage between voltage terminals 31 and 32 is zero, that is to say, the unbalance voltage is zero. Applying a magnetic field to elements 11 and 12 adds a Hall voltage, so that a double voltage can be obtained from terminals 31 and 32.
