Abstract

PURPOSE: To extend the stably weldable range and to improve the workability of the short-circuiting arc welding method, by setting the external characteristics of the power source for each condition of the arcing period and the short-circuiting period independently of each other.
CONSTITUTION: While the arcing period, Zener diode 11 is put on, the transistor 12 is put on, transistors 13, 14, are put off, and the resistor 15 is taken into the power source circuit. While the short-circuiting period, Zener diode 11 is put off, the transistor 14 is put on, and the resistor 15 is shorted out. Accordingly, while the arcing period, since the resistor 15 is inserted into the external circuit of the power source, the degree of drooping of the external characteristic of the power source becomes large; and while the short-circuiting period, since the resistor 15 is cut off, the degree of drooping becomes small. By thus setting each of external characteristics of the power source for the arcing period and the short-circuiting period indepnedently of each other, the field of short-circuit is realized over a wide range of the welding condition, and the stability of the short-circuiting arc can be improved, so that the efficiency of the welding work is improved.
