Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a water feed path in the inner part in the longitudinal direction of each of support insulating materials, thereby to enhance the creeping insulation resistance of the insulating materials.
CONSTITUTION: A high-tension portion 1 consisting of a high-tension ACWDC converter and the like is insulated from the ground 3 by support insulating materials 2. Each of the support insulating materials 2 is hollow, and the hollow part forms a water feed path 7 for passing cool water for cooling parts of the high-tension portion 1. Pure water used as cooling water has a small resistance factor and a great specific dielectric constant as compared with those of the insulating material or ambient air. Therefore, when the pure water is caused to flow through the water feed path 7, the potential of the pure water governs the potential of the support insulating material 2, as a result of which even when water content or dust and dirt adhere to the surface of the support insulatng material, the potential distribution over the surface is not disturbed so heavily. Accordingly, by this arrangement, the potential distribution at the atmosphere side of the support insulating material can be controlled by the potential distribution within the pure water, and therefore the insulation resistance at the atmosphere side of the support insulating material can be improved.
