Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve drivability and safety of motorcycles and the like by means of a piston valve and a bipass valve provided to shut off a passage according to acceleration or deceleration. CONSTITUTION:Upon sudden braking, the force of inertia causes the center of gravity to move forward. Consequently, an inner tube 3 and a piston 4 move toward an oil chamber A to compress the oil. However, the communication between a passage 14 on a casing 8 and a circular passage 16 on a piston valve 10 is shut off to check the flow of the working oil. Thus, the motorcyclist's forward inclination can be prevented, improving safety. In addition, when a thrust is given from below under such a condition, it adds to the pressure in the chamber A from the braking pressure. The resulting high pressure works on a bipass valve 11 to shift left. Consequently, a front folk shrinks so that the pressure from below is absorbed by a buffer spring S, ensuring a smooth operation.
