Abstract

PURPOSE: The dies which can carry out accurate extrusion of the parts provided with internal spiral projection, by installing in the die set the guiding portion conically cut at an angle of limited range, and continuously to this portion, the circular parallel portion of a restricted length.
CONSTITUTION: The portion (a) of the dies 2 is formed into a diameter a little larger than the outer diameter of the cylindrical blank 4; and the conical guiding portion (b) is formed at an angle ranged between 60W180 degrees; the length l1 of the parallel portion to be formed into the parts is settled at (0.087W0.26) × D/μ, in which D is the outer diameter of the pipe, and μ is the friction factor between dies and material; and then, the portion (c) is formed into a circular section of diameter approximately equal to the outer diameter of the product. The blank 4 is pressured through the extrusion punch 3, and is drawn to the specified outer diameter at the conical guiding portion (b) of dies 2; at the same time, the internal face is thrusted by the spiral groove of the core 1, and is gradually twisted; and the spiral projection is formed in its inner face; and then, the product is extruded.
