Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to accomplish the accurate measurement, while preventing reduction in sensitivity, by making a hot-wire flow meter such that only the clean gases for purge are always measured thereby to always bring the sensor into the clean gases.
CONSTITUTION: When electromagnetic valves 7 and 10 are opened whereas electromagnexic valves 8 and 9 are closed, purge gases will flow through a total pressure side communication conduit 3 and a static pressure side communication conduit 4 thereby to effect the gas purge up to the leading end of a pitoh tube 2. When the valves 7 and 10 are closed and the velves 8 and 9 are opened, the flow of the purge gases is established in the direction of arrow 18 in a measuring conduit 17 by the pressure difference established by the pitoh tube 2. The flow of the purge gases is brought into contact with the hot-wire sensor 12 of a hot-wire flow meter 11. Since, in this instance, the output E of the flow meter 11 is proportional to the flow velocity v and the pressure p in the gas duct, the compensation due to the fluid pressure so that the accurate flow velocity can be measured. Since, moreover, the sensor 12 contacts always with the clean gases, the reduction in sensitivity can be prevented.
