Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurence of surface defects of a continuous-cast slab and enhance the weldability by adding Mo to a steel in a specific ratio to reduction of the C content of the steel to keep the yield ratio at a predetermined value and reducing the C content of the steel to below a specific value.
CONSTITUTION: By adding Mo to a steel in a ratio of 0.015% to 0.01% reduction of the C content of the steel, the yield ratio of the steel is prevented from rinsing and kept at a predetermined value. The C content of the steel is reduced to below 0.09%. Thus, surface cracking of a continuous-cast slab is prevented which cracking tends to occur in the early stage of solidification, and the weldability of the slab is enhanced.
