Abstract
PURPOSE:To reform low-grade steel plate into an electromagnetic steel plate with an excellent magnetic characteristic by a process in which a reforming material such as Si is attached to the surface thereof to be deposited and formed into a flat plate following a heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:Si or a reforming material 2 containing Si is attached to the surface of a cheap low-grade steel plate 1 containing Mn at a ratio of less than 1.0% in a pattern of line, lattice or dot. The reforming material is attached by a transfer roller in the powdery form, heated morl than the melting point or combined with a proper binder and solvent. After the attachment, the mateial is deposited on the surface by menas of a tungsten inert gas welder,plasma welder or the like. Then, the plate undergoes a heat treatment over 6000 deg.C to get rid of the internal stress and protruded portions are flatened with a roller. For the reforming material, besides Si, Co, Ni A1 or the like may be used. With such a method, an electromagnetic steel plate with an excellent magnetic characteristic can be produced easily from low-grade steel plates.
