Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily make binary character image data readable even if it is reduced and to eliminate the need of specially binary holding image data by providing a filter circuit for converting the character image data to multilevel image data in accordance with a reduction rate. CONSTITUTION:When a character code is inputted, binary character image data of a regular size is generated by a character generating circuit 1. A filter circuit 2 converts a local area of the binary character image data corresponding to a reduction rate to multilevel data to which a display means 3 can correspond. The multilevel data generated with regard to all the local areas becomes multilevel-reduced character image data, and by displaying it on a display means 3, an easily readable-reduced character can be displayed.
