Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a moisture-retaining cosmetic having excellent chapped skin preventing effect and giving good feeling to the skin by compounding sap of snake gourd and a moisture-retaining agent. CONSTITUTION:The objective cosmetic can be produced by compounding (A) 3-99wt.% of sap of snake gourd with (B) at least one kind of moisture-retaining agent selected from polyhydric alcohol, mucopolysaccharide, saccharide, amino acid and water-containing wax, adding (C) an oil component (e.g. paraffin, olive oil or cetanol), polyoxyethylene glycerol monostearate, methyl p- oxybenzoate, etc., and stirring the mixture. The amounts of the polyhydric alcohol, mucopolysaccharide, saccharide, amino acid and water-containing wax are 0.1-70wt.%, 0.0001-5wt.%, 0.1-50wt.%, 0.01-3wt.% and 0.1-40wt.%, respectively, and these components may be used singly or in combination. The cosmetic can be used in the form of cream, milky lotion, face lotion, pack, foundation, essence, hair-tonic, face wash, shampoo, hair conditioner, etc.
