Description
(a)複数の官能基を有する1つ以上のオリゴマーまたはポリマー化合物を含む樹脂成分と、
(b)任意選択的に、樹脂成分(a)のオリゴマーまたはポリマー化合物の官能基と反応性である複数の官能基を有する硬化剤と、
(c)熱分解時に膨張ガスを提供する化合物と、を含む、硬化性膨張組成物から形成され、化合物(a)~(c)は、互いに異なる。
(a)複数の官能基を有する1つ以上のオリゴマーまたはポリマー化合物を含む樹脂成分と、
(b)任意選択的に、樹脂成分(a)のオリゴマーまたはポリマー化合物の官能基と反応性である複数の官能基を有する硬化剤と、
(c)熱分解時に膨張ガスを提供する化合物と、を含む硬化性膨張組成物から形成され、化合物(a)~(c)が、互いに異なる、層を備える。
本発明で使用される複数の官能基を保有するオリゴマーまたはポリマー化合物は、特に限定されず、それには、エポキシ樹脂、アクリル樹脂、ポリシロキサン、ポリウレタン、ポリ尿素、ポリビニル、フェノール樹脂、尿素-ホルムアルデヒド樹脂、ポリイミド、メラミン樹脂、ポリエステル樹脂、およびシアネート樹脂が含まれるがこれらに限定されない。これらの樹脂の中では、エポキシ樹脂、アクリル樹脂、および/またはポリウレタン樹脂が特に好適である。
-エチレン系不飽和ニトリル化合物、
-ビニル芳香族モノマー、
-エチレン系不飽和酸のアルキルエステル、
-エチレン系不飽和酸のヒドロキシアルキルエステル、
-エチレン系不飽和酸のアミド、
-エチレン系不飽和酸、
-エチレン系不飽和スルホン酸モノマーおよび/またはエチレン系不飽和リン含有酸モノマー、
-ビニルカルボキシレート、
-共役ジエン、
-少なくとも2つのエチレン系不飽和基を有するモノマー、および
-それらの組み合わせ、から選択することができる。
(i)(メタ)アクリル酸のベータ-ヒドロキシエステル、
(ii)化合物(i)とは異なる(メタ)アクリレート官能性化合物、またはそれらの組み合わせ、をさらに含み得る。
本発明による硬化性膨張組成物で使用される硬化剤には、樹脂成分(a)のオリゴマーまたはポリマー化合物の官能基と反応して、それを硬化させることができる限り、特に制限はない。好適な硬化剤には、ポリアミン、例えば、ポリエーテルアミン、ポリアミド、ポリエポキシド、アミノプラスト樹脂、フェノール樹脂、ポリイソシアネート、ポリチオール、およびポリオールなどが含まれる。硬化は、周囲温度または熱の適用時のいずれかで行うことができる。

-脂肪族ポリアミン、芳香族ポリアミン、ポリ(アミンアミド)ポリエーテルアミン、およびそれらの組み合わせから選択され得るポリアミン官能性化合物、もしくは
-ポリスルフィドチオール、ポリエーテルチオール、ポリエステルチオール、ペンタエリスリトール系チオール、およびそれらの組み合わせから選択され得るポリチオール官能性化合物、または
-それらの組み合わせ、を含む、態様1~6のいずれかに記載の電池。
(i)(メタ)アクリル酸のベータ-ヒドロキシエステル、
(ii)化合物(i)とは異なる(メタ)アクリレート官能性化合物、またはそれらの組み合わせ、をさらに含む、態様7~11のいずれかに記載の電池。
-樹脂成分(a)の総量が、組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、10~40重量%であり、
-硬化剤(b)の総量が、組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、10~30重量%であり、
-熱分解時に膨張ガスを提供する化合物(c)の総重量が、組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、0.1~25重量%であり、
-存在する場合、リン源の総量が、組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、0.05~20重量%であり、
-存在する場合、亜鉛源の総量が、組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、0.1~25重量%であり、
-存在する場合、ホウ素源の総量が、組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、0.1~10重量%であり、
-存在する場合、酸源の総量が、組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、5~30重量%である、態様1~15のいずれかに記載の電池。
エポキシ系樹脂パックであるPittchar(登録商標)XP成分A、ならびにポリアミン硬化剤およびガス源としてメラミンを含有する硬化パックであるPittchar(登録商標)XP成分Bの両方は、PPG Industries Pittsburg PAから市販されており、それぞれ、75重量%および25重量%の量で混合した。混合物を、Graco Plural成分噴霧機を使用して、新鮮なサンドブラスト鋼板(厚さ=5mm、サイズ15.24cm×15.24cm、SA2.5)に噴霧し、23℃で最短7日間硬化させた。硬化コーティングの乾燥コーティング厚さは、5mmであった。
鋼板の寸法が、25.4cm×25.4cmであり、1、2、および5mmの硬化コーティングの様々な乾燥コーティング厚さで手ブラシによって、コーティング組成物を適用したことを除いて、実施例1を繰り返した。
実施例1の膨張コーティング組成物(厚さ=1、2、および5mm)の遊離フィルムを、矩形成形型(ポリプロピレンシートから切断)を使用して鋳造し、23℃で7日間硬化させた。フィルム剥離後、片面に裏打ちされた市販の接着フィルム(3M 950転写テープ)を各フィルムの裏面上に適用した。試料を鋼板サイズ(15.24cm×15.24cm)に切断し、その後ライナーを剥離し、膨張コーティングを鋼基材(鋼板:厚さ5mm、サイズ15.24cm×15.24cm)に押し付けた。
典型的にはリチウムイオン電池(3/7w/wエチレンカーボネート/メチルエチルカーボネート中1.2MのLi+OH-)で使用される燃焼液体電解質によって、プロパントーチを置き換えたことを除いて、実施例1を繰り返した。炎温度は、650℃前後であった。
エポキシ系樹脂パックおよびガス源としてのメラミンであるSteelguard(登録商標)951成分A、ならびにポリアミン硬化剤を含有する硬化パックであるSteelguard(登録商標)951成分Bの両方は、PPG Industries Pittsburg PAから市販されており、それぞれ、45重量%および55重量%の量で混合した。混合物を、Graco Plural成分噴霧機を使用して、アルミパネル(厚さ=0.64mm、サイズ7.5cm×15.1cm)に噴霧し、23℃で最短7日間硬化させた。硬化コーティングの乾燥コーティング厚さは、0.18mmであった。
以下の寸法を有する鋼板を使用した(厚さ=5mm、サイズ25cm×25cm)ことを除いて、実施例5を繰り返した。コーティング組成物をハンドブラシによって鋼板に適用し、23℃で最短7日間乾燥させた。硬化コーティングの様々な乾燥コーティング厚さ(1、2、および6mm)を観察した。
本発明の好ましい実施形態によれば、例えば、以下が提供される。

コーティングおよび自己支持フィルムまたはシートから選択される架橋した膨張層を備える電池であって、前記層が、
(a)複数の官能基を有する1つ以上のオリゴマーまたはポリマー化合物を含む樹脂成分と、
(b)任意に、樹脂成分(a)の前記オリゴマーまたはポリマー化合物の前記官能基と反応性である複数の官能基を有する硬化剤と、
(c)熱分解時に膨張ガスを提供する化合物と、を含む、硬化性膨張組成物から形成され、
化合物(a)~(c)が、互いに異なる、電池。
(項2)
前記樹脂成分(a)が、1つ以上のエポキシ樹脂、ポリシロキサン樹脂、アクリル樹脂、ポリウレタン樹脂、ポリ尿素樹脂、ポリビニル樹脂、フェノール樹脂、尿素ホルムアルデヒド樹脂、ポリイミド樹脂、メラミン樹脂、ポリエステル樹脂、およびシアネート樹脂を含む、上記項1に記載の電池。
(項3)
前記樹脂成分(a)の前記官能基が、エポキシ、アミン、ビニル、アミド、カルバメート、尿素、メルカプタン、カルボン酸、(メタ)アクリロイル、イソシアネート、アルコキシシリル、無水物、ヒドロキシル、アルコキシ基、互いと反応することが可能である官能基、およびそれらの組み合わせから選択される、上記項1または2に記載の電池。
(項4)
互いと反応することが可能である前記官能基が、N-メチロールアミド基、シリコン結合加水分解性または縮合性基を有するシラン基、エチレン系不飽和脂肪酸基、アゾメチン基、アゼチジン基、熱可逆性Diels-Alder反応が可能である基から選択される、上記項3に記載の電池。
(項5)
前記樹脂化合物(a)が、エポキシ樹脂を含み、前記硬化剤(b)が、必須であり、かつ
-脂肪族ポリアミン、芳香族ポリアミン、ポリ(アミンアミド)ポリエーテルアミン、およびそれらの組み合わせから選択され得るポリアミン官能性化合物、もしくは
-ポリスルフィドチオール、ポリエーテルチオール、ポリエステルチオール、ペンタエリスリトール系チオール、およびそれらの組み合わせから選択され得るポリチオール官能性化合物、または
-それらの組み合わせ、を含む、上記項1~4のいずれかに記載の電池。
(項6)
熱分解時に膨張ガスを提供する前記化合物(c)が、メラミン、リン酸のアンモニウム塩、グアニジン、メチロール化メラミン、ヘキサメトキシメチルメラミン、尿素、ジメチル尿素、ピロリン酸メラミン、ジシアンジアミド、グアニル尿素リン酸塩、グリシン、炭酸カルシウム、炭酸マグネシウム、水酸化カルシウム、二水酸化マグネシウム、三水酸化アルミニウム、ホウ酸、およびホウ酸エステルから選択される、上記項1~5のいずれかに記載の電池。

リン源、ホウ素源、亜鉛源、酸源、および任意に、炭素源の組み合わせを含む添加剤(d)をさらに含み、それによって、単一の材料が、定義された要素のうちの2つ以上の源であり得る、上記項1~6のいずれかに記載の電池。

上記項1~8のいずれかに記載の硬化性膨張組成物の使用であって、前記電池の任意の部分に適用されるときに電池に対する防火を提供するため、かつ/もしくは電池の熱暴走を低減もしくは防止するため、または前記電池と前記物品との間の前記電池に隣接する前記物品の一部に適用されるときに電池を備える物品に対する防火を提供するための、使用。

-上記項1~8のいずれかに記載の硬化性膨張組成物を前記電池の任意の部分に適用して、その上にコーティングを形成し、かつ前記コーティングを硬化してその上に架橋した膨張コーティングを得ること、あるいは
-上記項1~8のいずれかに記載の硬化性膨張組成物を膨張自己支持フィルムまたはシートに形成し、前記架橋した膨張自己支持フィルムまたはシートを電池に適用し、かつ電池への前記適用の前または後に前記膨張自己支持フィルムまたはシートを硬化させること、によって、電池への防火を提供する、または電池の熱暴走を低減もしくは防止する方法。

-上記項1~8のいずれかに記載の硬化性膨張組成物を前記電池と前記物品との間の前記電池に隣接する前記物品の一部に適用して、その上にコーティングを形成し、かつ前記コーティングを硬化してその上に架橋した膨張コーティングを得ること、あるいは
-上記項1~8のいずれかに記載の硬化性膨張組成物を膨張自己支持フィルムまたはシートに形成し、前記膨張自己支持フィルムまたはシートを前記電池と前記物品との間の前記電池に隣接する前記物品の一部に適用し、かつ前記物品の前記一部への前記適用の前または後に前記膨張自己支持フィルムまたはシートを硬化させること、によって、電池を備える物品に対する防火を提供する方法。
(項15)
前記物品が、リチウムイオン電池および乗客キャビンを備える車両であり、前記架橋した膨張コーティングが、電池火災から前記車両の前記乗客キャビンを保護するように位置付けられる、上記項14に記載の方法。
Claims (12)
- コーティングおよび自己支持フィルムまたはシートから選択される架橋した膨張層を備える電池であって、前記層が、
(a)樹脂成分であって、ここで、前記樹脂成分(a)が、エポキシ樹脂を含む、樹脂成分と、
(b)硬化剤であって、ここで、前記硬化剤(b)は、脂肪族ポリアミン、芳香族ポリアミン、ポリ(アミンアミド)ポリエーテルアミンおよびそれらの組み合わせから選択され得るポリアミン官能性化合物を含む、硬化剤と、
(c)熱分解時に膨張ガスを提供する化合物と、を含む、硬化性膨張組成物から形成され、
化合物(a)~(c)が、互いに異なり、
ここで、
-樹脂成分(a)の総量が、前記組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、10~40重量%であり、
-硬化剤(b)の総量が、前記組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、10~30重量%であり、
-熱分解時に膨張ガスを提供する前記化合物(c)の総重量が、前記組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、0.1~25重量%である、
電池。 - 熱分解時に膨張ガスを提供する前記化合物(c)が、メラミン、リン酸のアンモニウム塩、グアニジン、メチロール化メラミン、ヘキサメトキシメチルメラミン、尿素、ジメチル尿素、ピロリン酸メラミン、ジシアンジアミド、グアニル尿素リン酸塩、グリシン、炭酸カルシウム、炭酸マグネシウム、水酸化カルシウム、二水酸化マグネシウム、三水酸化アルミニウム、ホウ酸、およびホウ酸エステルから選択される、請求項1に記載の電池。
- リン源、ホウ素源、亜鉛源、酸源、および任意に、炭素源の組み合わせを含む添加剤(d)をさらに含み、それによって、単一の材料が、定義された要素のうちの2つ以上の源であり得る、請求項1~2のいずれかに記載の電池。
- -存在する場合、リン源の総量が、前記組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、0.05~20重量%であり、ここで、前記リン源は、リン酸、リン酸モノアンモニウム、リン酸ジアンモニウム、リン酸トリス(2-クロロエチル)、リン含有アミド、ピロリン酸メラミン、またはそれらの組み合わせを含み;
-存在する場合、亜鉛源の総量が、前記組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、0.1~25重量%であり、
-存在する場合、ホウ素源の総量が、前記組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、0.1~10重量%であり、ここで、前記ホウ素源は、五ホウ酸アンモニウム、酸化ホウ素、ホウ酸ナトリウム、ホウ酸カリウム、ホウ酸アンモニウム、ホウ酸エステル、またはそれらの組み合わせを含み、
-存在する場合、酸源の総量が、前記組成物の総固体重量に基づいて、5~30重量%であり、ここで、前記酸源は、リン酸生成材料、ホウ酸、またはそれらの組み合わせを含む、請求項1~3のいずれかに記載の電池。 - ハウジングを画定する外壁要素と、任意に、内壁要素と、をさらに備え、前記架橋した膨張層が、少なくとも部分的に、前記外壁要素のいずれかの外側および/もしくは内側に適用されるか、あるいは、前記内壁要素が存在する場合に、前記架橋した膨張層が、少なくとも部分的に、前記外壁要素のいずれかの外側および/もしくは内側に、かつ/または前記内壁要素のいずれかの任意の側面に適用される、請求項1~4のいずれかに記載の電池。
- 前記電池が、リチウムイオン電池である、請求項1~5のいずれかに記載の電池。
- 電池を備える物品であって、請求項1~4のいずれかに記載の架橋した膨張層が、前記電池と前記物品との間の前記電池に隣接する前記物品の一部に適用される、物品。
- 前記物品が、リチウムイオン電池および乗客キャビンを備える車両であり、前記架橋した膨張層が、前記電池と前記車両本体との間の前記電池に隣接する前記車両の床の少なくとも一部に適用される、請求項7に記載の物品。
- 請求項1~4のいずれかに記載の硬化性膨張組成物の使用であって、前記電池の任意の部分に適用されるときに電池に対する防火を提供するため、かつ/もしくは電池の熱暴走を低減もしくは防止するため、または前記電池と前記物品との間の前記電池に隣接する前記物品の一部に適用されるときに電池を備える物品に対する防火を提供するための、使用。
- -請求項1~4のいずれかに記載の硬化性膨張組成物を前記電池の任意の部分に適用して、その上にコーティングを形成し、かつ前記コーティングを硬化してその上に架橋した膨張コーティングを得ること、あるいは
-請求項1~4のいずれかに記載の硬化性膨張組成物を膨張自己支持フィルムまたはシートに形成し、前記架橋した膨張自己支持フィルムまたはシートを電池に適用し、かつ電池への前記適用の前または後に前記膨張自己支持フィルムまたはシートを硬化させること、によって、電池への防火を提供する、または電池の熱暴走を低減もしくは防止する方法。 - -請求項1~4のいずれかに記載の硬化性膨張組成物を前記電池と前記物品との間の前記電池に隣接する前記物品の一部に適用して、その上にコーティングを形成し、かつ前記コーティングを硬化してその上に架橋した膨張コーティングを得ること、あるいは
-請求項1~4のいずれかに記載の硬化性膨張組成物を膨張自己支持フィルムまたはシートに形成し、前記膨張自己支持フィルムまたはシートを前記電池と前記物品との間の前記電池に隣接する前記物品の一部に適用し、かつ前記物品の前記一部への前記適用の前または後に前記膨張自己支持フィルムまたはシートを硬化させること、によって、電池を備える物品に対する防火を提供する方法。 - 前記物品が、リチウムイオン電池および乗客キャビンを備える車両であり、前記架橋した膨張コーティングが、電池火災から前記車両の前記乗客キャビンを保護するように位置付けられる、請求項11に記載の方法。
