Description

本発明は、撮像システムに関する。
ＣＣＤ（Charge Coupled Device）、および、ＣＭＯＳ（Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor）などの画像センサを備え、バーコードや文字などのコードまたはシンボルを読み取る撮像装置が知られている。またこのような撮像装置の１つとして、軸上色収差により波長ごとに焦点位置が異なる光学系を利用し、広い被写界深度を実現し、広い読み取り可能範囲を実現する撮像装置が知られている（例えば特許文献１）。
しかしながら、従来の撮像装置では、波長ごとに被写体の輝度の強度が異なる場合に波長ごとにコントラストが大きく異なり、効果的に深度を拡張できない問題があった。
本発明は、上記に鑑みてなされたものであって、被写界深度を効率的に拡張できる撮像システムを提供することを目的とする。
上述した課題を解決し、目的を達成するために、本発明は、波長ごとに焦点位置が異なる光学系と、前記光学系に対し被写界深度を拡大させる光学素子と、複数の波長のうち指示された波長の照明光を被写体に照射する照明と、前記照明光が照射された被写体の、前記光学系により結像された像を撮像する撮像素子と、前記撮像素子により撮像された像のコントラストが閾値以下の場合に、異なる波長の照明光を前記照明に照射させる制御部と、を備える。
本発明によれば、被写界深度を効率的に拡張できるという効果を奏する。

以下に添付図面を参照して、この発明にかかる撮像システムの一実施形態を詳細に説明する。
最初に、被写界深度とコントラストとの関係について説明する。図１〜図３は、撮像装置から被写体までの距離と、各波長におけるコントラストとの関係を示す図である。
波長ごとに異なる焦点位置を持った光学系を利用した撮像装置（撮像システム）で、被写界深度の拡大を図る場合は、コントラストと位置との関係が図２のようになることが望ましい。しかし、例えば自然光の下の撮影では、異なる波長（例えばＲ、Ｇ、Ｂ）でコントラストが異なり、ある波長（図１ではＲおよびＧ）のコントラストが低くなる恐れがある。この場合、異なる波長を使用しているにもかかわらず、効果的な深度拡張が実現できているとは言えない。
そこで、本実施形態の撮像システムでは、複数の波長のうち指示された（選択された）波長の照射光を照射可能な照明を用いることにより、被写界深度を効率的に拡張する。ここでの深度の拡張は、焦点位置を広く制御できるということを意味する。
例えば、上記図２のように、全体の被写界深度が広くなるように、ＲＧＢの各波長が重なるように制御してもよい。また、被写体の位置が分かっている場合であれば、図３のように、例えばタイミング１で近距離に存在する被写体にＲの照明光を適切な光量で照射し、タイミング２で遠距離に存在する被写体にＢの照明光を適切な光量で照射するように制御してもよい。
図４は、本実施形態の撮像システムの構成例を示すブロック図である。図４に示すように、撮像システムは、レンズユニット２０２と、撮像素子２０５と、画像処理部２０６と、制御部２０７と、照明２０８と、認識部２０９と、を備えている。撮像システムは、各部を例えば１つの筐体内に備える撮像装置として実現してもよい。撮像システムを、各部を分散して備え、ネットワーク等により相互に通信する複数の装置により実現してもよい。
撮像システムは、上記各部により被写体２０１を撮影する。被写体２０１は、例えばバーコード、２次元コード、および、文字列などである。撮像システムは、これらのコードや文字を読み取る撮像装置として利用できる。
レンズユニット２０２は、１枚以上のレンズで構成され、波長ごとに焦点位置が異なる光学系である。すなわち、レンズユニット２０２は、すべての波長に対して１つの画像面で焦点を結ばずに、色収差によりさまざまな波長で軸方向に隔たった画像面で焦点を結ぶ。レンズユニット２０２は、位相板２０３と、絞り２０４とを含んでいる。
位相板２０３は、絞り２０４の近傍に挿入される。位相板２０３は、被写界深度を拡大させるための収差を発生させる光学素子の一例である。位相板２０３により、撮像素子２０５の像面における点像分布関数（ＰＳＦ）を２画素以上にまたがるように拡散させることができる。
レンズユニット２０２は、収差が乗った状態で被写体２０１の像を撮像素子２０５の像面上に結像させる。位相板２０３は着脱自在となっていてもよい。位相板２０３が存在しなければレンズユニット２０２は通常の光学系として使用可能である。本実施形態では位相板２０３によって深度拡大のための収差を発生させているが、収差を発生させる方法は位相板２０３を用いる方法に限られるものではない。例えば、レンズユニット２０２全体で深度拡大の収差を発生させるように構成してもよい。
図５は、波長により異なる焦点位置を有する軸上色収差を持ったレンズユニットの構成例を示す図である。図６は、図５のレンズユニットのレンズデータの一例を示す図である。
図５のレンズユニットは、レンズ５１〜５２、絞り５３、レンズ５４〜５８を含む。図５のレンズユニットは、全系の焦点距離ｆ＝５．２６、Ｆ値（Ｆｎｏ）＝２．８、半画角ω＝３３．６である。面番号は、レンズ５１側から数えた面の順序を表す。Ｒ、Ｄ、Ｎｄおよびνｄは、それぞれ、曲率半径（非球面にあっては近軸曲率半径）、面間隔、屈折率、アッベ数を表す。
図４に戻り、撮像素子２０５は、照明２０８から照明光が照射された被写体２０１の、レンズユニット２０２により結像された像を撮像する、例えばモノクロ撮像素子である。撮像素子２０５は、例えば、ＣＣＤ（Charge Coupled Device）、および、ＣＭＯＳ（Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor）センサなどの一般的な固体撮像素子を使用できる。撮像素子２０５からは画像データが出力され、出力された画像は画像処理部２０６へと入力される。
画像処理部２０６は、撮像素子２０５により撮像された画像に対して画像処理を行う。例えば、画像処理部２０６は、位相板２０３が存在する場合には、位相板２０３で拡散されたＰＳＦ(Point spread function)を復元する処理（ＰＳＦ復元処理）を行う。画像処理部２０６は、照射された照明光の波長に応じて画像処理を切り替えてもよい。例えば、画像処理部２０６は、波長に対応した複数のＰＳＦ復元処理のうち、照射された照明光の波長に応じたＰＳＦ復元処理を実行してもよい。
認識部２０９は、画像処理後の画像から、１次元バーコードおよび２次元バーコードなどの各種コード、並びに、文字列などのシンボル等を認識（検出）する。
照明２０８は、複数の波長のうち指示された波長の照明光を被写体２０１に照射する。例えば照明２０８は、制御部２０７から指示された波長の照射光を照射する。
制御部２０７は、撮像システム全体の処理を制御する。例えば、制御部２０７は、照明２０８が照射する照射光の波長を、例えば撮像素子２０５の読み取りタイミング等に合わせて切り替える制御を行う。制御部２０７は、照明の切り替えに合わせたＰＳＦ復元処理を画像処理部２０６に行わせる。
画像処理部２０６、制御部２０７および認識部２０９は、例えば、ＣＰＵ（Central Processing Unit）などを用いてソフトウェアにより実現してもよいし、ＦＰＧＡ（Field-Programmable Gate Array）などの集積回路を用いてハードウェアにより実現してもよいし、ソフトウェアとハードウェアとを併用して実現してもよい。
図７は、波長に応じた焦点位置のずれの例を示す図である。図７は、Ｇの波長を基準とした場合のＢおよびＲの波長の焦点位置のずれの例を示している。図７に示すように、ＢおよびＲの波長は、Ｇの波長に対して焦点位置が前後にずれる。
本実施形態の制御部２０７は、各波長に対応する照明光を照射するように照明２０８を制御する。そして制御部２０７は、照明光を照射したときに得られる像を撮像素子２０５により取得する。これにより、レンズを動かさずに各焦点位置の像を得ることができる。
また、本実施形態では、複数の波長のうち指示された波長の照射光を照明２０８から照射するため、例えば図２に示すように適切なコントラストとなる照射光を照射するように制御できる。従って、自然光を用いる場合などのように波長に応じてコントラストが異なり、効果的な深度拡張が実現できない状況を回避できる。
照明２０８は、１つの波長の照射光を照射してもよいし、複数の波長の照射光を同時に照射してもよい。すなわち、制御部２０７は、複数の波長のうち１以上の波長の照射光を照射するように照明２０８を制御する。
制御部２０７が、複数の異なる波長の照明光を被写体２０１に照射し、コントラストが他の波長より大きい波長に対応する位置を特定することにより、被写体が存在する位置を判定してもよい。図８は、ＲＧＢの各波長の照射光を照射した場合に撮像される像のコントラストの例を示す図である。図８の例では、Ｂの波長の照射光を照射した場合にコントラストが最大となる。従って、制御部２０７は、Ｂの波長のピークに対応する位置に被写体２０１が存在すると判定できる。
制御部２０７が、焦点が合った像が撮像できるように波長を切り替えてもよい。例えば、制御部２０７は、撮像された像のコントラストが予め定められた閾値以下の場合に、異なる波長の照明光を照明２０８に照射させるように制御してもよい。これにより、ピントが合っていない像が撮像された場合に、他の波長の照射光に切り替え、よりピントが合った像を得ることが可能となる。
撮像素子２０５の感度は波長により異なる場合がある。そこで制御部２０７が、波長に応じて照明光の露光時間を変えるように制御してもよい。例えば、Ｇの波長に対して感度が高い撮像素子２０５を用いる場合であれば、制御部２０７は、Ｇの波長の照明光の露光時間を他の波長より短くする。これにより、異なる波長によるコントラストのばらつきの抑制を図れる。
処理時間の短縮のため、制御部２０７が、複数の波長の照射光を同時に照射させてもよい。例えば、制御部２０７は、Ｒ、Ｇ、Ｂの各波長の照射光を同時に被写体２０１に照射するように照明２０８を制御する。これにより、それぞれの波長の光を時分割で照射する場合より精度は落ちる可能性があるが、処理時間の短縮を図ることができる。この場合、画像処理部２０６は、複数の波長の平均値に最も近い波長に対応した画像処理を行ってもよい。例えば、ＲＧＢの波長がそれぞれ、７００ｎｍ、５４６．１ｎｍ、４３５．８ｎｍであれば、画像処理部２０６は、Ｇの波長に対応した画像処理を行う。
以上のように、本実施形態によれば、複数の波長のうち指示された波長の照射光を照射可能な照明を用いることができる。これにより、被写界深度を効率的に拡張することが可能となる。

Claims (6)

  1. 波長ごとに焦点位置が異なる光学系と、
    前記光学系に対し被写界深度を拡大させる光学素子と、
    複数の波長のうち指示された波長の照明光を被写体に照射する照明と、
    前記照明光が照射された被写体の、前記光学系により結像された像を撮像する撮像素子と、
    前記撮像素子により撮像された像のコントラストが閾値以下の場合に、異なる波長の照明光を前記照明に照射させる制御部と、
    を備える撮像システム。
  2. 前記光学系は、軸上色収差により波長ごとに焦点位置が異なる、
    請求項１に記載の撮像システム。
  3. 前記照明により被写体に照射される前記照明光の波長に対応した画像処理を行う画像処理部をさらに備える、
    請求項１または２に記載の撮像システム。
  4. 前記制御部は、前記照明により複数の異なる波長の照明光を被写体に照射し、コントラストが他の波長より大きい波長に対応する位置に前記被写体が存在すると判定する、
    請求項１から３のいずれか一項に記載の撮像システム。
  5. 前記制御部は、波長に応じて異なる露光時間の照明光を前記照明に照射させる、

  6. 複数の波長の照明光を被写体に照射し、前記複数の波長の平均値に近い波長に対応した画像処理を行う画像処理部をさらに備える、
