Description
第1の磁性粒子には、平均粒子径が6.6μmのカルボニル鉄粉(BASF社製:Carbonyl Iron Powder CS)を用いた。
第2の磁性粒子には以下のようなアークプラズマ法を用いて形成した平均粒子径が0.1μmのFeナノ粒子を用いた。なお、平均粒子径はBET(Brunauer-Emmett-Teller)法により求めた。
第1の磁性粒子及び第2の磁性粒子を所定の比率で分散媒中に分散させることによりMR流体を得た。分散媒にはシリコンオイル(信越化学社製:KF−96−50cs)を用いた。所定量の第1の磁性粒子、第2の磁性粒子及び分散媒を容器中にてへらを用いて手で混合した後、自転・公転型の攪拌機(倉敷紡績社製:マゼルスター)を用いて高せん断混合することにより磁性粒子を分散媒中に分散させた。第1の磁性粒子及び第2の磁性粒子を混合した磁性粒子混合体の分散媒に対する濃度は10vol%とした。
せん断応力の測定には、磁場印加装置(英弘精機製:MR−101N)を組み込んだ高精度レオメータ(HAAKE社製:レオストレス6000)を用いた。平板の間隔は250μmとした。
第2の磁性粒子の混合比率を、15質量%とした。磁場を0.3テスラ(T)とし、せん断速度を100s-1とした場合におけるせん断応力は11.2kPaであった。
第2の磁性粒子の混合比率を、25質量%とした。磁場を0.3Tとし、せん断速度を100s-1とした場合におけるせん断応力は11.5kPaであった。磁場を印加せず、せん断速度を100s-1とした場合におけるせん断応力は、0.012kPaであった。
第2の磁性粒子の混合比率を、35質量%とした。磁場を0.3Tとし、せん断速度を100s-1とした場合におけるせん断応力は10.8kPaであった。
第2の磁性粒子の混合比率を、0質量%とし、第1の磁性粒子単独とした。磁場を0.3Tとし、せん断速度を100s-1とした場合におけるせん断応力は9.2kPaであった。磁場を印加せず、せん断速度を100s-1とした場合におけるせん断応力は0.0095kPaであった。
第2の磁性粒子の混合比率を、50質量%とした。磁場を0.3Tとし、せん断速度を100s-1とした場合におけるせん断応力は9.5kPaであった。磁場を印加せず、せん断速度を100s-1とした場合におけるせん断応力は0.021kPaであった。
第2の磁性粒子の混合比率を、75質量%とした。磁場を0.3Tとし、せん断速度を100s-1とした場合におけるせん断応力は6.2kPaであった。
第2の磁性粒子の混合比率を、100質量%とし、第2の磁性粒子単独とした。磁場を0.3Tとし、せん断速度を100s-1とした場合におけるせん断応力は5.2kPaであった。磁場を印加せず、せん断速度を100s-1とした場合におけるせん断応力は0.025kPaであった。
第2の磁性粒子として平均粒子径が1μmのカルボニル鉄粒子(ISP Tech社製:S−3700)とし、第2の磁性粒子の混合比率を、25質量%とした。磁場を0.3Tとし、せん断速度を100s-1とした場合におけるせん断応力は9.4kPaであった。

Claims (8)
- 磁性粒子混合体と、
前記磁性粒子混合体を分散させる分散媒とを備え、
前記磁性粒子混合体は、第1の磁性粒子及び第2の磁性粒子を含み、
前記第1の磁性粒子は、平均粒子径が1μm以上、30μm以下であり、
前記第2の磁性粒子は、平均粒子径が50nm以上、200nm以下の軟磁性体であり、
前記第2の磁性粒子の前記磁性粒子混合体に占める割合は25質量%以上、40質量%以下であり、
第2の磁性粒子は、長軸と短軸との長さ比が2以上の針状のものを除く、磁気粘性流体。 - 前記第2の磁性粒子は、マグネタイト粒子、又は鉄微粒子からなる、請求項1に記載の磁気粘性流体。
- 前記第1の磁性粒子の平均粒子径は、前記第2の磁性粒子の平均粒子径の20倍以上、500倍以下である、請求項1又は2に記載の磁気粘性流体。
- 前記第1の磁性粒子は、カルボニル鉄粉からなる、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の磁気粘性流体。
- 前記第2の磁性粒子は、その表面に表面改質層を有している、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の磁気粘性流体。
- 前記表面改質層は、前記第2の磁性粒子の表面に結合された炭化水素鎖を有する化合物からなる、請求項5に記載の磁気粘性流体。
- 前記第1の磁性粒子は、表面改質層を有していない、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の磁気粘性流体。
- 相対回転可能な第1の部材及び第2の部材と、
前記第1の部材と前記第2の部材との間に充填された磁気粘性流体と、
前記磁気粘性流体に磁場を加える磁場発生部とを備え、
前記磁気粘性流体は、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の磁気粘性流体である、クラッチ。
