Description
従来のガス発生器は、電気信号によって点火するイニシエータと;イニシエータで発生した火炎を増幅しガス発生剤に伝えてガス発生剤への着火を促進する着火薬イグナイタと;膨張ガスを発生するガス発生剤の3つの火薬を使用していた。これらの火薬は、各々、個別に機能が与えられており、別個の容器に収納または保持されているため、構造が複雑であった。

Potassium Perchlorate)等を適当量装填したものを用いることができる。これにより、副ガス発生剤を粉砕し瞬時に燃焼させることができ、更に主ガス発生剤を遅滞無く確実に燃焼させることができるため、ガス発生器から素早くガスを排出することが可能となる。
実験は、図1に示した第1の本発明のインフレータと、図1に示したインフレータからチューブの孔を塞ぐアルミフォイルを設けない第2の本発明のインフレータについて行った。
なお、実験に使用したハウジングの容積、使用したガス発生剤は同じである
本発明のインフレータ(実線と一点鎖線)の場合、従来のインフレータ(破線)や比較インフレータ(二点鎖線)に比べて、燃焼初期に、60リットルの燃焼試験用タンクの内圧が急上昇していることが分かる。従って、ガス発生剤の燃焼が十分になされ、その後は高い内圧を維持している。

イプ)のガス発生器であって、2段目316b内のガス発生剤322は、イニシエータ314bの点火によって上部の蓋325が開き、1段目のガス発生剤の燃焼ガスによって、ガス発生剤322が燃焼する。
副ガス発生剤の燃焼の後、主ガスは速やかに加熱され、膨張し、圧力隔壁730を速やかに破ってガス排出口から排出される。

Claims (7)
- 車両に搭載されるエアバッグ装置用のガス発生器において、
燃焼してエアバッグを膨張させる主ガスを発生させる主ガス発生剤を収容する主ガス発生室と;
鋳造、鍛造もしくはプレス加工の何れか、あるいはそれらの組み合わせによって形成され、前記主ガス発生室の内部に配置され、主ガス発生剤と同一の副ガス発生剤と、前記車両の衝撃によって作動する展開起動用のイニシエータを収容する副ガス発生室と;を備え、
前記イニシエータは、火薬量400mg〜600mgの着火薬を収容し、
前記副ガス発生剤は、前記副ガス発生室内の前記イニシエータの周辺に配置されており、
前記副ガス発生室は、前記イニシエータの作動時に衝撃波を発生させ、前記副ガス発生剤が完全に粉砕されるまでの間は前記主ガス発生室と隔絶されており、当該衝撃波によって前記副ガス発生室内の前記副ガス発生剤を粉砕して燃焼させることによって前記副ガス発生剤を着火薬として機能させ、この副ガス発生剤の燃焼によって前記主ガス発生剤を点火する構造とすることを特徴とするエアバッグ装置用ガス発生器。 - 前記イニシエータ内の着火薬としてZPP及び/又はTHPPを使用することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のエアバッグ装置用ガス発生器。
- 前記主ガス発生剤と前記副ガス発生剤は、硝酸塩系のガス発生剤であることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載のエアバッグ装置用ガス発生器。
- 前記イニシエータの着火薬と前記副ガス発生剤との重量比率が、1:5〜27.5であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3の何れか1項に記載のエアバッグ装置用ガス発生器。
- 前記副ガス発生剤と前記主ガス発生剤との重量比率が、1:5.5〜13.5であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4の何れか1項に記載のエアバッグ装置用ガス発生器。
- 前記副ガス発生室には、燃焼ガスが通り抜ける孔が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至5の何れか1項に記載のエアバッグ装置用ガス発生器。
- 前記主ガス発生室及び前記副ガス発生室の上部を覆う中蓋を更に備えたことを特徴とする請求項1乃至6の何れか1項に記載のエアバッグ装置用ガス発生器。
