フラットパネルディスプレイ等のエレクトロルミネセントディスプレイで使用するためのエレクトロルミネセント素子が、業界において周知であり、Friendらの特許文献1、Peiらの特許文献2、Yangの特許文献3、ならびに非特許文献1に記載されている。したがって、エレクトロルミネセント素子は、例えば、エレクトロルミネセント材料の層が、電子注入電極層と正孔注入電極層との間に「挟持」構成で位置付けられる等の、多層薄膜構成で好適な基板上で製造されてもよい。電極層にわたって電圧勾配が適用される時に、正孔および電子は、それぞれ、正孔注入電極層および電子注入電極層からエレクトロルミネセント材料に注入され、正孔および電子がエレクトロルミネセント材料内で結合される時に、電極層のうちの1つを通る光の放出を生じる。
本開示の局面は、エレクトロルミネセント素子および同物を作製するための方法を含む。ある実施形態では、素子は、基板と、正孔注入電極層と、エレクトロルミネセント層と、電子注入電極層とを含む。ある実施形態では、素子はさらに、陽極および陰極層を含む。ある実施形態では、素子は、キャビティおよび/または誘電体層を含んでもよい。ある実施形態では、エレクトロルミネセント素子は、空気中で安定し、低仕事関数の材料を含む層等の、効率的な電子注入電極層を含有してもよく、その層は、漏電電流が低減した効率的な電子注入を達成することが可能である。
本開示をさらに説明する前に、本開示は、説明される特定の実施形態に限定されず、そのようなものとして、当然ながら変動してもよいことを理解されたい。また、本明細書で使用される専門用語は、特定の実施形態を説明する目的のためだけのものであり、限定的となることを目的としないことも理解されたい。特に定義されない限り、本明細書で使用される全ての技術および科学用語は、本開示が属する技術分野の当業者によって一般に理解されるのと同じ意味を有する。
上記に要約されるように、本開示の局面は、エレクトロルミネセント素子である。ある実施形態では、エレクトロルミネセント素子は、基板を含む。「基板」という用語は、その通常の意味で本明細書において使用され、その上に他の層が堆積されてもよい、物体または基層を意味する。その上に本開示の層状構造を提供することができる、基部として使用されるのに十分な機械的強度である限り、任意の好適な基板が採用されてもよい。
一局面では、本開示は、上記のエレクトロルミネセント素子を形成するための方法を提供する。ある実施形態では、方法は、最初に、その上に層状構造が形成される基板を提供するステップを含み、層状構造は、陽極および/または正孔注入層と、エレクトロルミネセント材料層と、電子注入(例えば、ポリエチレングリコールジメチルエーテルおよびバリウムアセチルアセトナート層)および陰極層とを含む。加えて、素子の層状構造は、陽極および/または正孔注入層と電子注入および陰極層との間に挟入される、誘電体層およびキャビティの両方を含んでもよい。
別の局面では、本開示は、エレクトロルミネセント照明またはディスプレイ素子の生産における、上記のエレクトロルミネセント素子の使用を対象とし、エレクトロルミネセントディスプレイ素子は、上記で説明されるように、層状構造を含み、その層状構造は、各キャビティが内部キャビティ表面を有するように、各々層状構造の一部分を通って延在する、1つ以上のキャビティを含んでもよい。層状構造は、好適な基板(例えば、透明基板)に隣接し、陽極および/または正孔注入電極層ならびに電子注入および/陰極層と電気接触しているエレクトロルミネセント材料を含む。
Claims (14)
- 基板を提供するステップと、
該基板を陽極層と接触させるステップと、
該陽極層をエレクトロルミネセント材料層と接触させるステップと、
該エレクトロルミネセント材料層を電子注入層と接触させるステップであって、該電子注入層は、極性成分を含有するポリマーと、金属ジケトナートとを順に含む、ポリマー組成物を含み、該極性成分を含有するポリマーはポリエーテルを含む、ステップと
を含み、該接触させるステップは、該基板上の層状構造の生産をもたらす、方法。 - 前記極性成分を含有するポリマーは、ポリエチレングリコールジメチルエーテル、ポリメチレングリコール、ポリメチレンオキシド、ポリエチレングリコール、ポリエチレンオキシド、ポリプロピレングリコール、ポリプロピレンオキシド、ポリブチレングリコール、ポリブチレンオキシド、またはそれらの1つ以上の誘導体から成る群より選択される、構成要素を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記金属ジケトナートは、リチウムアセチルアセトナート、バリウムアセチルアセトナート、ベリリウムアセチルアセトナート、カルシウムアセチルアセトナート、マグネシウムアセチルアセトナート、ナトリウムアセチルアセトナート、カリウムアセチルアセトナート、セシウムアセチルアセトナート、ストロンチウムアセチルアセトナート、ホウ素アセチルアセトナート、アルミニウムアセチルアセトナート、ガリウムアセチルアセトナート、インジウムアセチルアセトナート、銀アセチルアセトナート、および合金のアセチルアセトナートから成る群より選択される、構成要素を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記電子注入層は、ポリエチレングリコールジメチルエーテルと、バリウムアセチルアセトナートとを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリエチレングリコールジメチルエーテルおよびバリウムアセチルアセトナートは、20%から60%のポリエチレングリコールジメチルエーテルと、40%から80%のバリウムアセチルアセトナートとを含む、最終生産物を生産するように前記基板に接触する前に組み合わせられる、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 層状構造を含む基板であって、該層状構造は、
陽極層と、
エレクトロルミネセント材料層と、
電子注入層であって、該電子注入層は、極性成分を含有するポリマーと、金属ジケトナートとを含む、ポリマー組成物を含み、ここで、該極性成分を含有するポリマーはポリエーテルを含む、電子注入層と
を備える、基板。 - 前記ポリマー組成物は、ポリエチレングリコールジメチルエーテルと、バリウムアセチルアセトナートとを含む、請求項6に記載の基板。
- 前記基板は、透明である、請求項6に記載の基板。
- 前記電子注入層と接触している陰極層をさらに備える、請求項6に記載の基板。
- 前記陽極層と接触している正孔注入層をさらに備える、請求項6に記載の基板。
- 前記陽極層と電子注入層との間に挟入される、誘電体層をさらに備える、請求項6に記載の基板。
- 前記エレクトロルミネセント材料層を電子注入層と接触させるステップは、該エレクトロルミネセント材料層が該陽極層および電子注入層の両方と電気的に接触するような態様で行われる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- エレクトロルミネセント素子を製造するための方法であって、
基板を提供するステップと、
該基板を陽極層と接触させるステップと、
該陽極層を誘電体層と接触させるステップと、
キャビティが該誘電体層および該陽極層を通って延在するような態様で、該誘電体層および該陽極層に該キャビティを形成するステップであって、一旦形成されると、該キャビティは、誘電領域と、陽極領域とを含む、内部キャビティ表面を有する、ステップと、
該内部キャビティ表面をエレクトロルミネセント材料で被覆するステップであって、それにより、層状構造を形成するように、エレクトロルミネセント材料が該内部キャビティ表面の該陽極領域および誘電領域と電気的に接触する、ステップと、
該層状構造を電子注入層と接触させるステップであって、該電子注入層は、該電子注入層が該キャビティの中で該エレクトロルミネセント材料と電気的に接触するような態様で、ポリエチレングリコールジメチルエーテルと、バリウムアセチルアセトナートとを含む、ステップと
を含む、方法。 - 前記層状構造を陰極層と接触させるステップをさらに含む、請求項13に記載の方法。
