また、波状ノイズが効果的に除去されるので、パルス幅変調信号の周波数マージンを従来に比べて二倍に増加し得るという効果がある。

Claims (2)
- ダイレクトタイプのバックライトを駆動するための液晶表示装置のバックライト駆動装置であって、
複数の発光ダイオードアレイを備え、前記複数の発光ダイオードアレイの各々は、少なくとも1つの赤色発光ダイオードと、少なくとも1つの緑色発光ダイオードと、少なくとも1つの青色発光ダイオードとを含み、前記装置がさらに、
赤、緑、青色用パルス幅変調信号の全てが重畳する時間幅が最小になるように、前記赤、緑、青色用パルス幅変調信号の位相を前記赤、緑、青色用パルス幅変調信号別に第1の所定角度ずつ順次シフトするとともに、前記赤、緑、青色用パルス幅変調信号の位相を前記発光ダイオードアレイ別に第2の所定角度ずつ順次シフトして、位相がシフトされた赤、緑、青色用パルス幅変調信号を出力するパルス幅変調信号位相シフト部と、
前記位相がシフトされた赤、緑、青色用パルス幅変調信号を用いて前記発光ダイオードアレイの各々を駆動して、前記赤色発光ダイオードと前記緑色発光ダイオードと前記青色発光ダイオードとを点灯させる少なくとも1つの発光ダイオード駆動部とを備える、液晶表示装置のバックライト駆動装置。 - ダイレクトタイプのバックライトを駆動するための液晶表示装置のバックライト駆動方法であって、前記バックライトは、複数の発光ダイオードアレイを備え、前記複数の発光ダイオードアレイの各々は、少なくとも1つの赤色発光ダイオードと、少なくとも1つの緑色発光ダイオードと、少なくとも1つの青色発光ダイオードとを含み、前記方法が、
赤、緑、青色用パルス幅変調信号の全てが重畳する時間幅が最小になるように、前記赤、緑、青色用パルス幅変調信号の位相を前記赤、緑、青色用パルス幅変調信号別に第1の所定角度ずつ順次シフトするとともに、前記赤、緑、青色用パルス幅変調信号の位相を前記発光ダイオードアレイ別に第2の所定角度ずつ順次シフトして、位相がシフトされた赤、緑、青色用パルス幅変調信号を出力する段階と、
前記位相がシフトされた赤、緑、青色用パルス幅変調信号を用いて前記発光ダイオードアレイの各々を駆動して、前記赤色発光ダイオードと前記緑色発光ダイオードと前記青色発光ダイオードとを点灯させる段階とを含む、液晶表示装置のバックライト駆動方法。
