Description
第1実施形態は、車載ディーゼルエンジン用の尿素SCR装置として本発明を具体化しており、その詳細な構成を以下に説明する。はじめに、図1を参照しながら、本実施形態の尿素SCR装置10の概要を説明する。図1は、排気浄化装置としての尿素SCR装置10を内燃機関としてのエンジンへの取付状態で水平方向から見たものである。また、図1において、矢印X1は水平方向の1つ(X1方向)を、また矢印Y1は鉛直下向き(Y1方向)を示している。

選択還元触媒としてのSCR触媒30は、ハニカム構造の触媒担体32、同担体32を収容する触媒ケース31などで構成されている。触媒担体32には、酸化バナジウム(V2O5)等の触媒金属が担持されており、SCR触媒30は、公知のNOxの還元反応(排気浄化反応)を促進し、排気中のNOxを還元する(次式(2)〜(4)参照)。

ここで、尿素SCR装置では、排気通路の内壁への尿素水溶液の噴霧の付着を抑制すべく、尿素水溶液の噴霧を排気通路の内壁全周から均等に離間した部分に供給することが望ましい。そのため、図5に示す比較例のように、触媒ケース31の直部31aの中心軸線33上に噴射弁40から尿素水溶液を噴射することが考えられる。ところが、排気通路のうち曲がり管12の管内に形成された部分(曲部)では、排気の流向が触媒ケース31の直管部31aの中心軸線33と交差する。すなわち、触媒ケース31の直管部31aの中心軸線33において排気が鉛直下向き(Y1方向)の速度成分を有している。これにより、噴射弁40から噴射された尿素水溶液の噴霧が鉛直下向きに流されて、曲がり管12の曲げ外側の内壁やその排気下流側の直管部31aの内壁に付着し、さらに付着した尿素水溶液が尿素として内壁に析出することが考えられる。
第2実施形態は、第1実施形態と同様にして車載ディーゼルエンジンの排気を浄化する尿素SCR装置である。以下、図2を参照しながら、本実施形態の尿素SCR装置50の構成及び効果をこの順に説明する。図2は、本実施形態の尿素SCR装置50をエンジンへの取付状態にて上方から見たものである。なお、第2実施形態の尿素SCR装置を構成する構成要素のうち、第1実施形態の対応する構成要素と実質的に同一のものには、同一符号を付して、それらの説明を省略する。また、図2において、矢印X2は水平方向の1つ(X2方向)を、また矢印Y2はX2方向と直交する水平方向(Y2方向)示している。
第3実施形態は、第1実施形態と同様にして車載ディーゼルエンジンの排気を浄化する尿素SCR装置である。以下、図3を参照しながら、本実施形態の尿素SCR装置60の構成及び効果をこの順に説明する。図3は、本実施形態の尿素SCR装置60をエンジンへの取付状態で水平方向から見たものである。なお、第3実施形態の尿素SCR装置を構成する構成要素のうち、第1実施形態の対応する構成要素と実質的に同一のものには、同一符号を付して、それらの説明を省略する。
本発明は上記実施形態の記載内容に限定されず、例えば次のように実施されてもよい。
Claims (1)
- 内燃機関の排気を流す排気通路と、前記内燃機関の排気に含まれる特定成分を選択的に還元するための選択還元触媒と、その還元反応に供される還元剤を前記選択還元触媒に対して噴射供給する噴射弁とを備え、前記内燃機関の排気を前記還元反応によって浄化する排気浄化装置において、
前記排気通路は、前記選択還元触媒よりも排気上流側に曲部を有するとともに、前記曲部の排気下流側端から前記選択還元触媒の排気上流側端まで排気を導く直管状の直部を有し、前記曲部の排気下流側端において前記曲部の中心軸線に対する接線と前記直部の中心軸線とが一致するように形成され、
前記噴射弁は、噴孔の形成されたノズル部を有し、前記噴射弁の軸心と前記噴孔の噴霧中心とが一致するものであるとともに、前記直部の中心軸線上にて前記噴孔が開口するように前記曲部の曲げ外側に設けられ、前記噴孔の噴霧中心が前記直部の中心軸線よりも前記曲部の曲げ内側に傾くように前記噴射弁が取り付けられ、
前記還元剤は尿素水溶液であり、
前記選択還元触媒はアンモニア選択還元触媒であることを特徴とする排気浄化装置。
