上記摺動面のフッ素元素の存在率が、上記表層部(43)の摺動面下のフッ素元素の存在率の1.25倍以上であることを特徴とする。

次に上記スラストプレートの製造例を説明する。但し、本発明は当該製造例に限定されるものではない。
まず、表面粗度Ra=0.1μm程度の基材(41)をリン酸亜鉛水溶液で処理し、基材(41)の表面にリン酸亜鉛皮膜(42)を形成する。次に下記組成の塗料を上記リン酸亜鉛皮膜(42)の表面に塗布し焼付けて塗膜(43)を形成する。
ポリアミドイミド;70重量部
PTFE(融点380℃);3重量部
FEP樹脂(融点260℃);27重量部
グラファイト;0.15重量部
溶剤;NMP(適量)
塗膜(43)の焼付け温度は280℃であり、FEP樹脂粉末(粒径2μm以下)はその融点が焼付け温度よりも低いことから、当該焼付けにより溶融して塗膜の形成に寄与する。PTFE粉末(粒径2μm以下)はその融点が焼付け温度よりも高いことから、フッ素樹脂粒子(45)として残って塗膜中に分散した状態になる。焼付け後の塗膜厚は例えば40〜70μm程度になるようにする。また、塗膜(43)の表面粗度Raは0.3〜0.6μm程度になる。
次に以上の如くして得られた素材の塗膜(43)の表面をラッピング研磨する。図3はこの研磨の態様を模式的に示す。同図において、(51)はラップ定盤、(52)は押えプレートである。押えプレート(52)に素材(56)を固定し、ラップ定盤(51)と素材(56)の塗膜(43)との間に、遊離砥粒(57)を分散させた研磨液(58)を介在させて塗膜(43)の表面のラッピング研磨を行なう。ラッピング圧力は9.8kPa以上49kPa以下、好ましくは9.8kPa以上19.6kPa以下とする。
図5は上述の塗料組成(マトリックス樹脂(ポリアミドイミド):フッ素樹脂(PTFE+FEP樹脂)=70:30)を採用し、砥粒(57)の粒径を種々に変えて上記ラッピング研磨を行なったときの、塗膜(43)の表面粗度Raと表面F濃度(フッ素元素の存在率)との関係を示すグラフ(横軸は対数目盛)である。表面F濃度はEDX(エネルギー分散型蛍光X線分析装置)を用いて測定した。未研磨品はラッピング研磨を行なう前のものであり、その表面粗度Raは0.5μm、表面F濃度は22質量%である。表面粗度Ra及び表面F濃度は表1の通りである。
上述の如く、本発明においては、塗膜表面にラッピング研磨を施すことによって、未研磨品よりも表面F濃度を高めているが、この未研磨品の表面F濃度は摺動面下の(すなわち、塗膜内部の)フッ素元素の存在率に相当する。そうして、この摺動面下のフッ素元素存在率は、当該摺動面を研磨して塗膜内部を露出させ、その露出面に存在する元素をEDXを用いて分析することによって測定することができる。摺動面下の塗膜内部の露出は、砥粒の粒径=20μm、ラッピング圧力=9.8kPa、研磨速度=1m/sec、研磨時間=30secの条件で摺動面をラッピング研磨をすることによって行なうことができる。
なお、上記実施形態ではスラストプレート(17)を設けたが、上部ハウジング(16)に上記実施形態と同様に摺動特性の優れた塗膜(43)を形成するようにしてもよい。

Claims (3)
- 少なくとも表層部(43)はマトリックス樹脂(44)中にフッ素樹脂粒子(45)が分散されてなり、該表層部(43)の表面が摺動面を構成する摺動部材であって、
上記表層部(43)の摺動面は、該表層部(43)とラップ定盤(51)との間に遊離砥粒(57)を分散させた研磨液(58)を介在させ且つ加圧状態で行なうラッピング研磨によって、表面粗度Raが0.03μm以上0.2μm以下とされ、
上記摺動面に多数のフッ素樹脂粒子(45)が分散して露出し、該フッ素樹脂粒子(45)の露出部(45a)が上記マトリックス樹脂(44)に埋まっている部分より外側に該摺動面に沿って広がっていることを特徴とする摺動部材。 - 少なくとも表層部(43)はマトリックス樹脂(44)中にフッ素樹脂粒子(45)が分散されてなり、該表層部(43)の表面が摺動面を構成する摺動部材であって、
上記表層部(43)の摺動面は、該表層部(43)とラップ定盤(51)との間に遊離砥粒(57)を分散させた研磨液(58)を介在させ且つ加圧状態で行なうラッピング研磨によって、表面粗度Raが0.03μm以上0.2μm以下とされ、
上記摺動面のフッ素元素の存在率が、上記表層部(43)の摺動面下のフッ素元素の存在率の1.25倍以上であることを特徴とする摺動部材。 - 少なくとも表層部(43)はマトリックス樹脂(44)中にフッ素樹脂粒子(45)が分散されてなる素材(56)を形成し、
上記素材(56)の表層部(43)とラップ定盤(51)との間に遊離砥粒(57)を分散させた研磨液(58)を介在させて、該表層部(43)の表面を加圧状態でラッピング研磨することにより、該表層部(43)の表面粗度Raを0.03μm以上0.2μm以下にすることを特徴とする摺動部材の製造方法。
