Description of the Related Art Conventionally, when a coating material such as resin or ink is applied to the front or back surface of a substrate such as a printed board or a glass substrate, a single spiral groove B is applied as shown in FIG. Was supplied from a supply device D called a doctor to an application roll C having a coating agent, and the application agent was applied by being pressed against the front or back surface of the base material A while rotating the application roll C.

(1) While the coating material is applied to the front or back surface of the base material A by the rotating coating roll C, the coating material is moved in the lateral direction of the base material A along the spiral groove B and gradually becomes the same roll. C
Of the coating agent, the coating thickness of the coating agent becomes non-uniform. Further, when a large amount of the coating agent is supplied to the coating roll C, the coating agent which is moved in the lateral direction of the base material A may overflow from the side of the base material A, and the periphery of the base material A becomes dirty. (2) If air bubbles are entrapped in the spiral groove B during the application operation, the application of the coating agent is not applied to the foam portions, so that the coating remains. Furthermore, since the foam moves along the spiral groove B, the unpainted portion of the foam also moves along the spiral groove B, and the unpainted portion of the foam may be scattered on the application surface of the base material A. (3) The air bubbles entrapped in the spiral groove B during the coating operation often burst and pinholes are generated on the coating surface of the substrate A. (4) The spiral groove B is a single groove, and the coating roll C
Since the surface of the spiral groove B has the same depth, if a part of the spiral groove B is clogged, it becomes difficult for the coating agent to flow after the clogged portion, and the coating thickness of the coating agent may become uneven. (5) Generally, when only one spiral groove is formed on the application roll C, cleaning and maintenance are troublesome. (6) In general, in the conventional application roll, the application thickness of the application agent tends to be thicker at both end portions of the substrate A than at other portions.

An object of the present invention is to provide an application roll in which the groove is hardly generated, the groove is hardly clogged, and the groove is easily cleaned and maintained.

Are formed shallower than the inner side. The depth of the guide groove 3 can be arbitrarily selected according to the application, the viscosity of the coating agent, and the like, but can be, for example, about 0.1 mm. As shown in FIG. 1B, the depth of the guide groove 3 is not made equal to the entire length, but as shown in FIG. 1B, the depth of both ends in the longitudinal direction of the roll 2, for example, about 5 mm from both ends in the longitudinal direction of the roll 2, It is shallower than the depth of the inner part. In this case, as shown in FIG. 1B, the depths of the guide grooves 3 at both ends in the longitudinal direction of the roll 2 can be made uniform and shallow, or can be made gradually smaller from the inside to the outside. . For the rotating shaft 1, a pipe made of metal or hard resin such as vinyl chloride is used. The shape may be any of a square bar, a square pipe, a round bar, a round pipe, and other shapes.

Synthetic rubber such as ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR) and nitrile rubber (NBR) can be used. Various methods can be considered as a method for forming the roll 2. As one of them, the rotating shaft 1 is inserted into a cylindrical mold having a release agent applied to the inner surface, and a roll 2 is formed on the outer periphery of the rotating shaft 1 in the mold. The roll 2 having a length of several tens to several meters can be easily formed by using a molding die. The outer peripheral surface of the roll 2 is desirably a perfect circle around the axis of the rotary shaft 1, and by making the perfect circle, the coating agent can be uniformly applied to the base material. As another example, the roll 2 may be formed separately from the rotating shaft 1, and the rotating shaft 1 may be inserted into the center hole and bonded.

It is. Also in this case, the depths of the guide grooves 3 at both ends in the longitudinal direction of the roll 2 can be made uniform and shallow, or can be made gradually shallow from the inside to the outside. The pitch of the guide grooves 3 (the distance between the valleys of the adjacent guide grooves 3 or the distance between the vertices of the adjacent ridges formed on the outer peripheral surface of the roll 2 by forming the guide grooves 3), the depth The width, number, and the like can be arbitrarily selected according to the application, the viscosity of the liquid, and the like. Further, the depth of the guide groove 3 does not make the depth of all the guide grooves 3 uniform, but, as shown in FIG. 2B, from the both ends in the longitudinal direction of the roll 2, for example, from both ends in the longitudinal direction of the roll 2. The depth of the guide groove 3 in the portion of about 5 mm is smaller than the depth of the guide groove 3 in the inner portion. In this case, as shown in FIG. 2 (b), the depth of the guide grooves 3 at both ends in the longitudinal direction of the roll 2 may be reduced to a uniform depth or may be gradually reduced from the inside to the outside. it can. The guide groove 3 can be formed at the same time when the roll 2 is formed using a forming die, but can also be formed after the roll 2 is formed.

This will be described in detail based on (a, b). The basic configuration of this coating roll is the same as that of the second embodiment, except that a large number of independent ring-shaped guide grooves 3 are formed obliquely to the axis of the roll 2. It is. The angle of the oblique direction can be arbitrarily selected according to the application. For example, the angle of the guide groove 3 can be set to 60 °. As shown in FIG. 3 (b), the guide groove 3 also has a depth of about 5 mm inside from both ends in the longitudinal direction of the roll 2, for example, about 5 mm from both ends in the longitudinal direction of the roll 2, and a ring inside the guide groove 3. It is formed shallower than the depth of the groove. Also in this case, as shown in FIG. 3B, the depth of the guide grooves 3 at both ends in the longitudinal direction of the roll 2 may be reduced to a uniform depth or may be gradually reduced from the inside to the outside. (1) Even when the coating material is applied to the base material, the amount of movement of the coating material brought to the guide grooves 3 at both ends in the longitudinal direction is reduced, and the coating material is applied uniformly over the entire width of the base material. Can be. In addition, the coating agent is less likely to overflow to the side of the substrate, and the side surface of the substrate and the periphery of the coating device are less likely to be stained. (2) Even if air bubbles are entrapped in the guide groove 3, the air bubbles are sent out to the outside when the roll 2 makes one rotation, and are easily broken. Absent. (3) The coating agent clogged in a part of the guide groove 3 is easily sent to the outside from a shallow portion, and the flow of the coating agent is less likely to be obstructed. (4) Maintenance such as cleaning is easy because the guide groove 3 is shallow.
