取階調が上がるに従いその階調精度を保証する上で深刻
な問題点となる。全面白の原稿を証明した時と、黒領域
に囲まれた白領域をもつ原稿を照明した時とを比較する
と、白の読取レベルは後者の方が低くなる。例えば、第
6図に示すように、主走査方向の読取ライン8を読み取
る時に、主走査方向のab間の範囲において副走査方向の
両側に黒画像9が存在すると、白の読取レベルは第7図
に示すように、ab間以外の部分を100%とするとab間は8

イン8に向けて延出する遮光板11とが主走査方向に沿っ
て配列されている。これらの遮光板10,11は両端部が第
2図に示すように連続して一部品として一体的に形成さ
