There are two types: FD), plasma display (PDP) and other light-emitting types, and liquid crystal display (LCD) typified by
They have been put into practical use while competing with each other. Above all, the light-emitting display device has been used for a medium-sized or large-sized display device that a person looks at relatively far from the strength of the display brightness. On the other hand, light-receiving LCDs have been used in medium-sized and small-sized display devices that are relatively familiar to people. However, the light-emitting display device has a drawback that the visibility is extremely low in the sunlight outdoors during the day because the brightness does not reach the sunlight. On the other hand, although the light-receiving display device has high visibility in sunlight, it has a drawback that it cannot be seen at night without illumination. For this reason, many day and night type display devices have been proposed, but none of them has been a definitive solution.

A liquid crystal device capable of adjusting a voltage has a light source for projecting light from the end face of the liquid crystal device into the dispersion medium fixed between the opposite electrodes, and a plurality of the liquid crystals are scattered in the dispersion medium. While being enclosed in the capsule, the electrodes are connected in conjunction with the turning on / off of the light source, and when the light source is turned off, a voltage is applied between the electrodes to make the liquid crystal transparent. When the light source is turned on, no voltage is applied between the electrodes, and the liquid crystal is in a scattering state.

The device part functions as ordinary glass. In addition, when the light source is turned on, no voltage is applied between the electrodes, and the small spherical liquid crystals are arranged in a scattering state, that is, at random directions, which effectively scatters the light source.
