In conventional connectors, the contact pitch is 2.54
Since it is as large as about mm, the width of the surface connection terminal can be widened and the rigidity of the connection part is large, so even when handling with the tip of the surface connection terminal connected in the contact manufacturing process such as pressing or plating. There was little variation in the arrangement pitch of the upper ends of the contacts, and it was possible to insert them all at once into the contact installation member.

However, at a high contact pitch of about 1.27 mm, the connection pad, that is, the soldering area becomes smaller, so the fixing force becomes weaker and the peeling stress on the soldered part caused by the variation in the height direction of the surface connection terminals is reduced. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the width of the surface connection terminal portion. For this reason, the rigidity of the surface connection terminal portion decreases, so that when the surface connection terminals are connected at the tips as in the conventional case, the arrangement pitch of the upper ends of the contacts varies greatly, and it becomes impossible to insert them collectively into the contact installation member. There was a point.

Further, in the prior art, when the contact is press-fitted into the contact installation member, the root of the surface connection terminal portion is pressed, so the bending angle of the surface connection terminal portion changes and the surface abutting on the connection pad of the printed board fluctuates up and down. There was also the problem that they were not on the same plane.

Further, in a card edge type connector into which a card made of a laminated printed circuit board or the like is directly inserted as a mating plug, the mating plate thickness fluctuates greatly, so the amount of deflection of the contact spring part fluctuates. . It is desirable that the stiffness, which is the ratio of the force and the displacement, is small in order to suppress the variation in the contact force against the variation in the deflection amount.

The conventional card edge type surface mounting connector employs a simple cantilever spring as the shape of the spring portion, and the stiffness is reduced by increasing the length of the spring. Therefore, there is also a problem that the height of the connector cannot be lowered.

The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and has a low profile when mounted on a printed circuit board on the motherboard side, and the terminal portions of the contacts are arranged with high accuracy, and the variation in height position is small. The above-mentioned conventional problem is that a card insertion slot made of an insulating material into which a card is inserted and an outer wall on both sides of the card insertion slot are provided with a substantially T-shaped contact insertion groove having a wide portion at the bottom. The contact installation member that is formed to penetrate through is formed of a spring material and has a contact part bent in an inverted J shape at the top, a wide fixed part in the middle, and drawn obliquely from the lower end of the fixed part to the lower part. When inserting a plurality of contacts each having a surface connection terminal portion, the connecting portion extends downward from the fixing portion and the surface connecting terminal portion is cut and raised, and the fixing portion extends downward from the connecting portion. The narrow connecting portions of the plurality of contacts, which are connected to each other through a narrower narrow connecting portion, are inserted into the contact insertion groove from the side surface of the contact installation member, and the fixing portion is formed into the wide portion. Press in from above and Is solved by the method connector of the present invention, characterized in that implanting the transfected installation member.

By forming the spring portion into an inverted J-shape, the contact can be shortened without increasing the stiffness, and the connector can be reduced in height. Since the connection is made below the fixed portion, the rigidity of the surface connection terminal portion can be reduced regardless of the connection strength. Further, since a plurality of contacts can be simultaneously incorporated in the contact installation member without applying a force to the surface connection terminal portion, variations in height position of the surface connection terminal portion are reduced, and the same surface of the soldering surface to the printed board can be obtained. Is improved.

A card insertion opening 71 having a bottom portion 71a against which the tip of the card 4 to be inserted abuts is formed in the contact installation member 7 continuously in the longitudinal direction (the direction perpendicular to the paper surface in FIG. 7B) so as to face upward. At a plurality of positions corresponding to the arrangement pitch of the contacts 8 on both sides of the card insertion opening 71, notches 73a and 73b for accommodating the contactor portions 81 of the contacts 8 are formed on the upper surface and the inner wall, and on the outer wall. Wide part at the bottom of narrow part 72b

2 and are formed. In this case, the width of the narrow portion 72b is narrower than the width of the fixing portion 82 of the contact 8 described later, and the narrow connecting portion 86 is formed.
Wider than the width of. The contact 8 has a contact portion 81 which is in contact with the contact pad 41 of the card 4 to be inserted and which is bent in an inverted J shape, an intermediate fixing portion 82 wider than the contact portion 81, and a fixing portion 82 at the lower portion. The surface connecting terminal portion 83 is narrower than the fixing portion 82 that is slanted downwardly from and is horizontal at the lower end. The fixing portion 82 is press-fitted into the wide portion 72a of the contact insertion groove 72, and the contact setting member 7 Has been planted in. By thus forming the contactor portion 81 in an inverted J-shape, the height of the contact can be reduced while ensuring the substantial spring length, and the bottom of the connector can be realized.

As shown in FIG. 2, the contact 8 is formed such that its surface connection terminal portion 83 is cut and raised from a connecting portion 84 extending downward with substantially the same width as the fixing portion 82, and the connecting portion is also formed.
It is formed by continuous pressing from thin leaf spring material strips at a pitch P equal to or an integer multiple of the arrangement pitch of the contact insertion holes 72 by a narrow connecting portion 86 extending further downward from 84. As described above, since the plurality of contacts 8 are connected to each other via the connecting portion 84 and the narrow connecting portion 86 which are independent of the surface connecting terminal portion 83, the width of the surface connecting terminal portion 83 is narrowed to reduce the rigidity. However, the arrangement pitch on the upper end side of the contacts 8 does not vary in the manufacturing process such as pressing or plating, and the contacts 8 can be collectively attached to the contact setting member 7.

Further, when the contact 8 is assembled, as shown in FIG. 2, the narrow connecting portions 86 of the plurality of contacts connected as described above are connected to the narrow portion 72b of the contact inserting groove 72 from the side surface of the contact setting member 7 as shown by an arrow B. After being passed through and positioned in the wide portion 72a, by pulling it downward as shown by an arrow C, the wide fixing portion 82 is formed so that the wide fixing portion 82 of the contact insertion groove 72 is formed.
It is pressed into a from above and is planted in the contact setting member 7. Then, the notch 85 separates the connecting portion 84 to form the individual contacts 8.
