Abstract
Description
本明細書で使用するところの「精神生理学的評価基準」という用語は、広義には、生物学的(生理学的)評価基準、並びに、被験者の自律反応、及びしばしば学習された習慣として実行される、意識的又は無意識的に実行される学習反応の両方を測定する行動的評価基準の両方を含むものである。詳細には、精神生理学とは、精神的な事象により生じる生物の生理の変化のことを指す。生理学的測定値は、「バイオメトリック表現」又は「バイオメトリックデータ」と呼ばれる場合もある。これについては、例えば米国特許第5,676,138号、同第6,190,314号、同第6,309,342号、同第7,249,603号、及び米国特許出願公開第2005/0289582号を参照されたい。説明上、「生理学的測定値」、「バイオメトリック表現」、「バイオメトリックデータ」、「精神生理学的測定値」、及び「精神生理学的データ」という用語は、本明細書では互換可能に用いられる。とりわけ、ボディーランゲージは、身体の身振り、姿勢、身体的表現又は顔の表情などによって言葉によらずに感情の状態を伝達することができる。一般的に、生理学的測定値を求めるためのアルゴリズムを用いて本発明の実施形態を実施することができる。いくつかの実施形態では、コストを低減するために1種類のみ、又は2種類のみの生理学的測定値を計測する場合もあるが、他の実施形態では、より精度を高めるために複数の生理学的測定値を計測する場合もある。生理学的測定値又は精神生理学的データを感情的測定基準データ(例えば感情の種類又は感情のレベル)に変換するうえで、多くの方法がこれまでに述べられている。例えば、米国特許出願公開第2005/0289582号、37〜44、及び当該公報に引用された参照文献を参照されたい。例としては、隠れマルコフモデル、神経ネットワーク、及びファジー論理法が挙げられる。例えば、Comm.ACM,vol.37,no.3,pp.77〜84,Mar.1994を参照されたい。説明上、「感情的測定基準データ」なる用語の定義には、「感情」、「感情の種類」、及び「感情のレベル」が含まれるものとする。
実験計画
被験者に精神生理学的装置を装着してもらうように指示し、人目につかない場所に案内して胸ストラップを装着してもらい、着衣の下で皮膚に当ててモニターし、指先に皮膚電気活動を印加する。装置の装着後に、精神生理学的測定を開始し、実験期間の全体を通じて継続する。
自己申告で、全体で18人の頭皮の痒みを有する被験者及び17人の頭皮の痒みのない被験者を、実験に参加させる。痒み刺激ビデオを鑑賞した時点で、皮膚電気活動(EDA)、呼吸数、及び心拍数の精神生理学的属性を取得した。感情状態の上昇は、EDAの増大、並びに呼吸数及び心拍数の減少によって示されるが、後者はいわゆる「闘争又は逃走」反応の「恐怖」要素によるものである。
40人の自己評価で頭皮に痒みを有する被験者を2群に分け、各群で4週間にわたってシャンプーを使用する。一方の群ではふけ予防シャンプーを使用し、他方の群ではプラセボシャンプーを使用する。精神生理学的評価基準をベースラインセッションで、及び4週間の製品使用後に、いずれも刺激ビデオを鑑賞した後で記録する。データはすべて、Zスコアを用いて正規化する。
Claims (12)
- 痒みを定量化するための客観的かつ非侵襲的な方法であって、
a)視覚刺激を被験者に提示する工程であって、前記視覚刺激は、前記被験者を痒みに集中させることを含む、工程と、
b)前記視覚刺激を提示する間に前記被験者から精神生理学的データを収集する工程と、
c)前記精神生理学的データを用いて、治療又は製品の治療効果を客観的に評価する工程と、を含む、方法。 - 前記方法が、感情状態を、客観的に測定された精神生理学的データに変換する工程を更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記精神生理学的データが、皮膚電気活動、肺データ、心臓データ、及びこれらの組み合わせから選択される、請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
- 前記皮膚電気活動が、ガルバニック皮膚反応(GSR)である、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記皮膚電気活動が、手、足、及びこれらの組み合わせにより収集される、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記皮膚電気活動が、手の指、手の掌、足の踵、及びこれらの組み合わせにより収集される、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記皮膚電気活動が、第1の指電極及び第2の指電極により収集される、請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記肺データが、呼吸数である、請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記心臓データが、心拍数である、請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記視覚刺激が、1つ又は複数の痒み刺激ビデオを含む、請求項1〜9のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記痒み刺激ビデオが、湿疹、シラミ、頭を掻く様子、又はこれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される画像を含む、請求項1〜10のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記皮膚電気活動データが、ふけ予防シャンプーの使用による頭皮の健康状態の改善にともなう痒みの低減が、プラセボシャンプーに対して有意に低下した皮膚電気活動であることを示す、請求項1〜11のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
