Abstract
Description
負極と、
スルホン酸エステルを含む電解液と
を有するリチウムイオン二次電池。
正極は、正極活物質が正極結着剤により一体化され正極活物質層として正極集電体上に結着された構造を有するものとすることができる。正極活物質は、充電時に電解液中にリチウムイオンを放出し、放電時に電解液中からリチウムイオンを吸蔵するものである。
LiyNi(1−x)MxO2 (A)
(但し、0≦x<1,0<y≦1.20、MはCo,Al,Mn,Fe,Ti及びBからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種の元素である。)
で表される層状リチウムニッケル複合酸化物を含むことが好ましい。式(A)中、xは0≦x≦0.5であることが好ましく、0≦x≦0.3であることがより好ましい。
負極は、負極活物質が負極結着剤により一体化され負極活物質層として負極集電体上に結着された構造を有するものとすることができる。
電解液は、充放電時に正極および負極においてリチウムイオンの吸蔵放出を可能とするため、正極と負極を浸漬してリチウムイオンを溶解可能な非水系の有機溶媒に、電解質を溶解したものである。
本発明のリチウムイオン二次電池は、正極活物質層と負極活物質層がセパレータを介して対向配置され、外装体に収納されたものであってよく、積層ラミネート型が好ましい。
正極活物質A:LiNi0.8Co0.2O2
正極活物質B:LiNi0.8Co0.15Al0.05O2
Mnスピネル:LiMn2O4
Mnオリビン:LiMnPO4
S1:化学式(101)で示される環状スルホン酸エステル
S2:化学式(102)で示される環状スルホン酸エステル
VC:ビニレンカーボネート
結着剤としてポリフッ化ビニリデン(PVdF)を正極活物質の質量に対し3質量%、ポリビニルピロリドンA(PVP−A)を正極活物質の質量に対し0.02質量%、これら以外の残部は平均粒子径8μmの層状リチウムニッケル酸化物(LiNi0.8Co0.2O2)の粉末とし、攪拌混合に優れた自転公転式3軸ミキサーを用いてNMP中に均一に分散させて正極スラリーを調製した。厚さ20μmのアルミニウム箔の正極集電体にコーターを用いて正極スラリーを均一に塗布し、NMPを蒸発させて乾燥後、裏面も同様にコーティングし、乾燥後ロールプレスにて密度を調整し、集電体の両面に正極活物質層を作製した。単位面積当たりの正極活物質層の質量は、44mg/cm2であった。
得られた小型ラミネートセルを4.2Vまでの初充電を行った後、満充電(4.20V)状態で45℃の温度で14日間のエージングを行い、エージング後の交流インピーダンスを測定した。交流インピーダンス測定において、円弧が測定され、X軸との交点を電子(液)抵抗(Rosl)、円弧の直径部を電荷移動抵抗(Rct)と定義する。電子抵抗(Rsol)の抵抗上昇の増加に特に着目して評価指標とした。
電池は、充電状態(SOC100%)において、45℃での24週間(168日)後の電子抵抗(Rsol)の測定を行い、抵抗上昇倍率(保存開始時を1とする)を算出した。結果を表3に示す。
正極スラリー中に、正極活物質に対し1.0質量%のカーボンナノチューブB(CNT−B)を混合した以外は実施例A1と同様にして小型ラミネートセルを作製し、抵抗上昇倍率を測定した。
正極活物質、ポリビニルピロリドン、カーボンナノチューブ、スルホン酸エステルの種類および添加量を表3〜表8に示すように変えた以外は、実施例A1と同様にして小型ラミネートセルを作製し、抵抗上昇倍率を測定した。各実施例の結果を表3〜6および各比較例の結果を表7〜8に示す。なお、実施例A73、B76では、正極中に2種類の導電材を、質量比で(CB:CNT−B=50:50)となるように用いた。表中、PVPと導電材の量は、それぞれ、正極活物質の総質量に対する質量%を示す。
表9に示す正極活物質、ポリビニルピロリドン、スルホン酸エステル、カーボンナノチューブを用いたこと以外は、実施例1と同様に、電池を作製し、抵抗上昇倍率を測定した。結果を表9に示す。これら参考例においては、正極活物質としてMnスピネルまたはMnオリビンを用いたが、層状リチウムニッケル複合酸化物を用いた実施例と比較すると、抵抗上昇倍率の上昇を抑制する効果が小さいことが示された。この理由はまだ解明できていないが、ニッケル層状系リチウム酸化物は、高温保存時における活材の割れ、および活材の割れに伴う導電パスの消失が、他の正極活物質に比べて、二次電池の劣化に大きく関与しているものと考えられる。

- 層状リチウムニッケル複合酸化物を含む正極活物質とビニルピロリドン系ポリマーとを含む正極と、
負極と、
スルホン酸エステルを含む電解液と
を有するリチウムイオン二次電池。 - 前記ビニルピロリドン系ポリマーのK値が、27以上、92以下である請求項1記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 正極が、さらに導電材を含む請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記導電材がカーボンナノチューブを含む請求項4に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記カーボンナノチューブのラマン分光測定によるD/G比が0.2以上0.95以下である請求項5に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記カーボンナノチューブのアスペクト比が、100以上、900以下である請求項5または6に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記カーボンナノチューブの比表面積が、40m2/g以上、2000m2/g以下である請求項5〜7のいずれか一項に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 正極と負極とをセパレータを介して積層して電極素子を製造する工程と、
前記電極素子と電解液とを外装体に封入する工程と、
