Abstract
Description
本実施形態においては、表示装置の一例として、透過型の液晶表示装置を開示する。
図1は、本実施形態に係る液晶表示装置1の概略構成を示す断面図である。液晶表示装置1は、バックライトユニット10と、表示パネルユニット30とを備える。図中の破線矢印は、バックライトユニット10からの光の進路の一部を示す。
以下の実施例により、液晶表示装置1の詳細な構成及び作用を説明する。但し、発明の範囲は、本実施例に開示する構成に限定されるものではない。
続いて、本実施形態にて開示した構成と、干渉縞を軽減ないしは防止するための他の手法との比較例につき、図6を参照して説明する。
(I)液晶表示装置1において、透明層300を設けず、反射偏光層310の透明粘着層312に散乱剤を添加する。この手法においては、散乱剤が添加された透明粘着層312が干渉縞の明暗を散乱させるので、干渉縞が視認しにくくなる。
例えば、上記実施形態では反射型偏光板31を備える表示装置の一例として透過型の液晶表示装置1を開示した。しかしながら、反射型偏光板31は、反射型の液晶表示装置、半透過型の液晶表示装置、或いは液晶を用いない他種の表示装置の光学素子として利用してもよい。
Claims (10)
- 光源側からの光の入射面と出射面を有し、前記入射面から入射する光の第1偏光成分を前記出射面に透過させるとともに、前記入射面から入射する光の前記第1偏光成分と直交する第2偏光成分を前記光源側に反射させる反射偏光層と、
前記入射面に密着して設けられ、前記光源側からの光の前記第1偏光成分及び前記第2偏光成分を前記入射面側に透過させるとともに、前記反射偏光層にて反射された前記第2偏光成分を前記光源側に透過させる透明層と、
前記反射偏光層の前記出射面側に設けられ、前記反射偏光層を透過した光の透過を制御する表示パネルと、
を備える表示パネルユニット。 - 前記透明層は、透明基材と、この透明基材を前記反射偏光層の前記入射面に粘着する透明な粘着層とを含む、
請求項1に記載の表示パネルユニット。 - 前記透明層は、前記透明基材の表面に設けられたハードコート層をさらに含む、
請求項2に記載の表示パネルユニット。 - 前記透明層の光の透過率は、95%以上である、
請求項1乃至3のうちいずれか1項に記載の表示パネルユニット。 - 前記透明層の厚さは、30μm以上である、
請求項1乃至4のうちいずれか1項に記載の表示パネルユニット。 - 光源及び前記光源からの光を取り込んで出射面から放射する導光体を有するバックライトユニットと、
前記バックライトユニット側からの光の入射面と出射面を有し、前記入射面から入射する光の第1偏光成分を前記出射面に透過させるとともに、前記入射面から入射する光の前記第1偏光成分と直交する第2偏光成分を前記バックライトユニット側に反射させる反射偏光層と、
前記入射面に密着して設けられ、前記バックライトユニット側からの光の前記第1偏光成分及び前記第2偏光成分を前記入射面側に透過させるとともに、前記反射偏光層にて反射された前記第2偏光成分を前記バックライトユニット側に透過させる透明層と、
前記反射偏光層の前記出射面側に設けられ、前記反射偏光層を透過した光の透過を制御する表示パネルと、
プリズムレンズが形成されたプリズム面を有し、このプリズム面が前記透明層と対向するように前記透明層と前記導光体との間に配置されるプリズムシートと、
を備える表示装置。 - 前記透明層は、透明基材と、この透明基材を前記反射偏光層の前記入射面に粘着する透明な粘着層とを含む、
請求項6に記載の表示装置。 - 前記透明層は、前記透明基材の表面に設けられたハードコート層をさらに含む、
請求項7に記載の表示装置。 - 前記透明層の光の透過率は、95%以上である、
請求項6乃至8のうちいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。 - 前記透明層の厚さは、30μm以上である、
