本実施の形態は、本発明の一態様に係る複数の発光ユニットを積層した構成の発光素子(以下、積層型素子という)の態様について、図7を参照して説明する。この発光素子は、第1の電極と第2の電極との間に、複数の発光ユニットを有する発光素子である。発光ユニットとしては、少なくとも発光層を有していればよく、実施の形態1で示したEL層と同様な構成を用いることができる。つまり、実施の形態1で示した発光素子は、1つの発光ユニットを有する発光素子であり、本実施の形態では、複数の発光ユニットを有する発光素子について説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様の発光素子を有する発光装置について説明する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態3に示す発光装置をその一部に含む本発明の一態様の電子機器について説明する。本発明の一態様の電子機器は、実施の形態1乃至実施の形態2で示した発光素子を有し、発光効率の高い表示部を有する。また、消費電力の低い表示部を有する。

Claims (12)
- 陽極と陰極の間に、前記陽極側から順に設けられた、第1の層、第2の層、第3の層を有し、
前記第1の層は正孔輸送性であり、
前記第2の層はバイポーラ性であり、
前記第3の層は電子輸送性であり、
前記第1の層は、第1の蛍光性化合物と正孔輸送性の有機化合物とを有し、
前記第2の層は、燐光性化合物とホスト材料とを有し、
前記第3の層は、第2の蛍光性化合物と電子輸送性の有機化合物とを有し、
前記正孔輸送性の有機化合物の三重項励起エネルギーおよび前記電子輸送性の有機化合物の三重項励起エネルギーは、前記ホスト材料の三重項励起エネルギーよりも大きいことを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1において、
前記ホスト材料は、バイポーラ性の有機化合物であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項2において、
前記第1の層と前記第2の層の間には、前記バイポーラ性の有機化合物からなる間隔層が設けられていることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項2または請求項3において、
前記第2の層と前記第3の層の間には、前記バイポーラ性の有機化合物からなる間隔層が設けられていることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項3または請求項4において、
前記間隔層は、1nm以上30nm以下であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれか一項において、
前記第2の層の膜厚は、5nm以上20nm以下であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の蛍光性化合物と前記第2の蛍光性化合物が同じ有機化合物であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項7において、
前記第1の蛍光性化合物および前記第2の蛍光性化合物の発光色と、前記燐光性化合物の発光色が補色の関係にあることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項7のいずれか一項において、
前記第2の層は複数種の燐光性化合物を有することを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項9において、
前記第1の蛍光性化合物の発光色が青色であり、複数の燐光性化合物のうち、一種の燐光性化合物の発光色は緑色であり、もう一種の燐光性化合物の発光色は赤色であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項10のいずれか一項に記載の発光素子と、前記発光素子の発光を制御する制御手段とを有する発光装置。
- 表示部を有し、
前記表示部は、請求項1乃至請求項10のいずれか一項に記載の発光素子と前記発光素子の発光を制御する制御手段とを備えたことを特徴とする電子機器。
