Abstract
【解決手段】本発明は、信号線SIGの電圧を中間電圧Vofs2、階調電圧Vsigに順次設定して駆動トランジスタの移動度のばらつきを補正するようにして、書込み信号WSの入力端から画素までの距離及び階調電圧Vsigに応じてこの中間電圧Vofs2を可変する。

Description
図2は、本発明の実施例1の表示装置を示すブロック図である。この表示装置11は、表示部12の周囲、表示部12を構成する絶縁基板上に垂直駆動回路15及び水平駆動回路16が配置される。この表示装置11は、これら垂直駆動回路15及び水平駆動回路16による表示部12の駆動により、図7〜図10について上述したと同様に、信号線の電圧を中間電圧、階調電圧に順次設定して駆動トランジスタの移動度のばらつきを補正する。
以上の構成において、この実施例の表示装置11では(図2、図5参照)、水平駆動回路16及び垂直駆動回路15による表示部12の駆動により順次ライン単位で表示部12の画素3に信号線SIGの階調電圧Vsigが設定されると共に、この設定された階調電圧Vsigにより各画素3の有機EL素子4が発光し、所望の画像が表示部12で表示される。
以上の構成によれば、信号線の電圧を中間電圧、階調電圧に順次設定して駆動トランジスタの移動度のばらつきを補正するようにして、書込み信号の入力端から画素までの距離及び階調電圧に応じてこの中間電圧を可変することにより、駆動トランジスタの移動度のばらつきを適切に補正して書込み信号の波形なまりによるシェーディングを防止することができる。
Claims (4)
- 画素をマトリックス状に配置して形成された表示部に対して、前記表示部の信号線及び走査線を介して水平駆動回路及び垂直駆動回路により前記画素を駆動することにより、前記表示部で所望の画像を表示する表示装置において、
前記画素は、
発光素子と、
信号レベル保持用コンデンサと、
前記垂直駆動回路から出力される書込み信号によりオン動作して、前記信号レベル保持用コンデンサの一端を前記信号線に接続する書込みトランジスタと、
前記信号レベル保持用コンデンサの端子間電圧に応じた駆動電流で前記発光素子を駆動する駆動トランジスタとを有し、
前記水平駆動回路は、
前記発光素子の発光を停止させる非発光期間において、前記信号線の電圧を所定の固定電圧、中間電圧、前記発光素子の発光輝度を示す階調電圧に順次切り換え、
前記垂直駆動回路は、
前記書込み信号及び前記駆動トランジスタの電源の制御により、前記信号レベル保持用コンデンサの端子間電圧を移動度補正前電圧に設定した後、
前記信号線の電圧を前記中間電圧、前記階調電圧に設定している期間で、前記書込み信号の制御により、前記駆動トランジスタの移動度で補正して前記信号レベル保持用コンデンサの端子間電圧を前記階調電圧に対応する電圧に設定し、
前記水平駆動回路は、
前記表示部の前記書込み信号の入力端から前記画素までの距離及び前記階調電圧に応じて前記中間電圧を可変する
ことを特徴とする表示装置。 - 前記移動度補正前電圧が、前記駆動トランジスタのしきい値電圧であり、
前記水平駆動回路は、
前記階調電圧の変化に対して、前記中間電圧の変化が二次関数で表されるように、前記階調電圧に応じて前記中間電圧を可変する
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記水平駆動回路は、
前記距離の増大により、前記二次関数のピーク値が増大するように、前記階調電圧に応じて前記中間電圧を可変する
ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の表示装置。 - 画素をマトリックス状に配置して形成された表示部に対して、前記表示部の信号線及び走査線を介して前記画素を駆動することにより、前記表示部で所望の画像を表示する表示装置の駆動方法において、
前記画素は、
発光素子と、
信号レベル保持用コンデンサと、
前記垂直駆動回路から出力される書込み信号によりオン動作して、前記信号レベル保持用コンデンサの一端を前記信号線に接続する書込みトランジスタと、
前記信号レベル保持用コンデンサの端子間電圧に応じた駆動電流で前記発光素子を駆動する駆動トランジスタとを有し、
前記駆動方法は、
前記発光素子の発光を停止させる非発光期間において、前記信号線の電圧を所定の固定電圧、中間電圧、前記発光素子の発光輝度を示す階調電圧に順次切り換え、
前記書込み信号及び前記駆動トランジスタの電源の制御により、前記信号レベル保持用コンデンサの端子間電圧を移動度補正前電圧に設定した後、
前記信号線の電圧を前記中間電圧、前記階調電圧に設定している期間で、前記書込み信号の制御により、前記駆動トランジスタの移動度で補正して前記信号レベル保持用コンデンサの端子間電圧を前記階調電圧に対応する電圧に設定し、
前記表示部の前記書込み信号の入力端から前記画素までの距離及び前記階調電圧に応じて前記中間電圧を可変する
ことを特徴とする表示装置の駆動方法。
