Abstract
【解決手段】画像処理部2は、入力画像データRiGiBiを彩度係数Cscに応じて入力画像データRiGiBiの高階調側を切り捨てて、彩度の低下した信号を生成すると共に、この信号をフルスケールの出力画像データRoGoBoに伸張する。また、画像調整パラメータThを生成して、フルスケール伸張と連動して、バックライト6の電力を低減させるように制御する。

Claims (11)
- 入力画像データの画像処理を行う画像処理部と、前記画像処理部からの出力画像データで駆動される表示パネルと、前記表示パネルを照射するバックライトと、前記バックライトを前記画像処理部からの画像調整パラメータに基づいて制御するバックライト制御部とを備えた表示装置において、
前記画像処理部は、外部で設定された彩度係数に基づいて入力画像データの彩度を低下させて前記画像調整パラメータを生成することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置において、
前記画像処理部は、外部で設定された電力低減パラメータに基づいて画像調整パラメータを生成することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置において、
前記画像処理部に、外部で設定された彩度係数に基づいて入力画像データの彩度を低下させる彩度制御部と、前記彩度制御部からの彩度の低下した画像データからピクセル情報を生成する入力データ処理部と、前記ピクセル情報を計数してヒストグラムを生成するヒストグラム係数部と、前記ヒストグラム係数部からの度数に基づいて画像調整パラメータを生成する画像調整パラメータ生成部と、前記画像調整パラメータを用いて入力画像データを伸張する画像伸張部とを設けることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項3に記載の表示装置において、
前記画像調整パラメータ生成部は、外部で設定された電力低減パラメータに基づいて画像調整パラメータを生成することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項3に記載の表示装置において、
前記彩度制御部に、入力画像データをYUV信号に変換するYUV変換部と、前記YUV変換部で変換された彩度UVを外部で設定された彩度係数に基づいて低下させる彩度変換部と、前記彩度変換部からの彩度が低下された画像データをRGB信号に変換するRGB変換部とを設けることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項3に記載の表示装置において、
前記彩度制御部に、入力画像データをYUV信号に変換するYUV変換部と、前記YUV変換部で変換された輝度Yを外部で設定された彩度係数に基づいて低下させる彩度変換部と、前記彩度変換部からの彩度が低下された画像データをRGB信号に変換するRGB変換部とを設けることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項3に記載の表示装置において、
前記彩度制御部に、入力画像データをYUV信号に変換するYUV変換部と、前記入力画像データの最大階調データに応じて彩度係数を設定してYUV信号の彩度を低下させる彩度変換部と、前記彩度変換部からの彩度が低下された画像データをRGB信号に変換するRGB変換部とを設けることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項3に記載の表示装置において、
前記彩度制御部に、外部で設定された彩度係数に基づいて入力画像データの彩度を低下させる彩度変換部を設けることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 入力画像データの画像処理を行う画像処理部と、前記画像処理部からの出力画像データで駆動される表示パネルと、前記表示パネルを照射するバックライトと、前記バックライトを前記画像処理部からの画像調整パラメータに基づいて制御するバックライト制御部とを備えた表示装置において、
前記画像処理部は、前記入力画像データの輝度成分と色成分のうち前記色成分を低下させて前記画像調整パラメータを生成することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項9に記載の表示装置において、
前記画像処理部は、前記色成分が低下した画像データのヒストグラムに基づいて、前記画像調整パラメータを生成することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項9又は10に記載の表示装置において、
前記画像処理部は、前記画像調整パラメータに基づいて前記入力画像データのヒストグラムの高輝度範囲を除去し、高輝度範囲が除去された前記ヒストグラムを伸張するように前記高輝度範囲が除去されたヒストグラム中の画像データを補正し、
前記バックライト制御部は、前記画像調整パラメータに基づいて前記バックライトを減光することを特徴とする表示装置。
