ケーシングの一方の部分構成部材40の先端部は、他方の部分構成部材38の先端部の内周側に嵌合している。
図4に示したように、第1部分構成部材38を画成している円筒壁は、その先端部42が、この第1部分構成部材38の本体部の直径より大きな直径を有する略々円筒形の部分とされている。この拡径した先端部42によって、第1部分構成部材38の外周側先端部が形成されており、この外周側先端部42が、相手側の部分構成部材である第2部分構成部材40の内周側先端部の外周側に嵌合するようにしてある。また更に、この外周側先端部42は、第1部分構成部材38の残りの部分と協働して、内周側へ突出した肩部46を画成している。
タング52の中央付近に、図5に詳細に示したように突起部64が形成されている。この突起部64は、エンボス加工によって、第1部分構成部材38の周壁部の当該部分を径方向内方へ膨出させて形成したものである。突起部64は、第1部分構成部材38の内径側へ膨出しており、従って、第1部分構成部材38の軸心に近付く側へ膨出している。
タングに形成された突起部64は、絞り部84と突条部88との間で、第2部分構成部材40の表面に当接する。第2部分構成部材40の外周面の、突起部64が当接する部分は、平坦面としてある。ただしこの実施の形態の変更例として、第2部分構成部材40の外周面の、絞り部84と突条部88との間に、突起部64が嵌合する窪み部を形成するようにしてもよく、そうすれば、互いに対応する形状の突起部64と窪み部とが係合することによって、第1部分構成部材38と第2部分構成部材40との間の相対回転が阻止されるようにすることができる。
締め帯機構90は、切れ目の入った帯環として構成された締め帯92を備えており、この締め帯92の両端が、引き締め機構94を介して互いに接続されている。引き締め機構94は、例えば締め付けネジ94などであって、締め付け帯92の両端を互いに引き寄せるように機能するものである。
この種の排気ガス浄化装置では、エンジンを運転しているうちに、粒子状物質捕集フィルタの上流側の表面にアッシュが堆積するが、アッシュが堆積したならば、その車両に対して、粒子状物質捕集フィルタの清掃を行うことができる。
このように嵌合するために、ケーシングの第1部分構成部材138の先端部142は、触媒式浄化エレメント118を収容する部分であるこの第1部分構成部材138の本体部よりも大径として、拡径した先端部142としてある。この拡径した先端部142は、その内周側に、ケーシングの第2部分構成部材140の先端部を嵌合するようにしたものである。第1部分構成部材138の拡径した先端部142と本体部との間には、肩部146が形成されている。
突条を形成しているカラー部材154は、接合部分156の先端部に設けられた溶接部166によって第2部分構成部材140の外周面に接合されている。この溶接部166が設けられている接合部分156の先端部は、この接合部分156の両側のうち、第1部分構成部材138と第2部分構成部材140とが嵌合する側とは反対側である。
Claims (15)
- 内燃エンジンの排気ガス浄化装置であって、
排気ガス流路を画成するアウターケーシング(23;123)と、前記排気ガス流路中に配設された粒子状物質捕集フィルタ(20;120)とを備え、
前記アウターケーシング(23;123)は、その外周を一周する横断分割部(34)を有しており、該横断分割部(34)によって、前記アウターケーシング(23;123)は第1部分構成部材(38;138)と第2部分構成部材(40;140)とに分割されており、前記第1部分構成部材及び前記第2部分構成部材(38、40;138、140)は、第1部分構成部材(38;138)の先端部が外周側に、第2部分構成部材(40;140)の先端部が内周側にくるようにして、それら先端部が互いに重なり合っており、その重なり部は前記排気ガス流路の長さ方向に幅を有している排気ガス浄化装置において、
前記第1部分構成部材(38;138)の前記外周側先端部は、その端縁の少なくとも1箇所に弱体化領域(52;152)を備えており、該弱体化領域によって前記第1部分構成部材(38;138)の前記外周側先端部を拡縮可能にしてあることを特徴とする排気ガス浄化装置。 - 前記排気ガス浄化装置は、前記第1部分構成部材(38;138)の端縁の複数箇所に分散させて形成した複数の弱体化領域を備えており、弱体化領域と弱体化領域との間に夫々に支持片であるタングが画成されており、該タングが、前記第2部分構成部材(40;140)の前記内周側先端部の表面に当接している請求項1記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記タング(52;152)は、その末端部分(62;178)が、径方向外方へ反っていて、末端に近付くにつれて第2部分構成部材(40;140)から次第に離れる形状に形成されている請求項1又は2記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記タングは、前記第2部分構成部材(40)へ向かって膨出した突起部(64)を有しており、該突起部(64)が、前記第2部分構成部材(40)の前記内周側先端部の表面に当接している請求項2又は3記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記第1部分構成部材(38)の前記先端部と前記第2部分構成部材(40)の前記先端部とに、それら部分構成部材(38、40)の軸心方向の相対移動を阻止するための互いに嵌合する形状の突条及び凹溝(60、88)が形成されている請求項2乃至4の何れか1項記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記排気ガス浄化装置が、前記第1部分構成部材(38;138)と前記第2部分構成部材(40;140)との重なり部の周囲に巻装された締め帯機構(90;190)を備えている請求項1乃至5の何れか1項記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記排気ガス浄化装置が、前記第1部分構成部材(38;138)の前記外周側先端部と前記第2部分構成部材(40;140)の前記内周側先端部との間に介装されたOリング(86;149)を備えている請求項6記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記排気ガス流路へ流入する排気ガスの通常の流動方向における上流側の前記部分構成部材(40)の先端部が、下流側の前記部分構成部材(38)の先端部の内周側に嵌合している請求項1乃至7の何れか1項記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記排気ガス浄化装置が、触媒式浄化エレメント(18;118)を備えており、前記横断分割部(34)が、前記粒子状物質捕集フィルタ(20;120)と前記触媒式浄化エレメント(18)との間に位置している請求項1乃至8の何れか1項記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記アウターケーシング(23)が、前記粒子状物質捕集フィルタ(20)より上流側で前記排気ガス流路に接続した枝管(70)を備えている請求項1乃至9の何れか1項記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記第2部分構成部材(140)に、アウターカラー部材(154)が取付けられており、該アウターカラー部材(154)によって周方向に延在する突条が形成されており、該突条の表面に前記タング(152)が当接している請求項2又は3記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記アクターカラー部材(154)が、支持部分(158)を備えており、該支持部分(158)は、その一方の端縁だけが前記第2部分構成部材(140)の外周面に接合されており、そして、その外周面に沿ってオーバーハング状態で延在している請求項11記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記タング(152)に絞り部(174)が形成されており、該絞り部(174)が、前記アウターカラー部材(154)によって形成された前記突条の背面側の縁部に係合して支持されている請求項11又は12記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記締め帯機構(190)が、前記アウターカラー部材(154)によって形成された前記周方向の突条の背後側の縁部に係合して支持された前記タング(152)の前記絞り部(174)に係合する形状に形成された部分を備えている請求項6及び13記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
- 請求項10記載の排気ガス浄化装置の前記第1部分構成部材(38)と前記第2部分構成部材(40)とを分離する方法において、前記枝管(70)を介して前記排気ガス流路へ高圧流体を注入することによって、前記第1部分構成部材と前記第2部分構成部材とに互いに逆方向の力を印加することを特徴とする方法。
