図1において、判別用治具1は、判別対象となるリング状部材の外径と略同じ幅の2面2aおよび2bを有するアングル材2と、予め寸法が分っている基準リング状部材3を主要部として構成されている。

判別対象となるリング状部材Wが上述のバルブシートであって、バルブシートの種類として外径27mmのものと28mmのものの2種があるとした場合、アングル材2の面2a、2bはそれぞれ20〜35mm、さらには25mm〜30mmであることが好ましい。これらの辺が長すぎると判別のためにバルブシートを基準リング状部材3に乗せる際の邪魔となることがあり、一方、辺が短すぎると面2a、2bの内側にバルブシートを押し付ける作業が困難となることがある。
