本発明は、弾丸等から身を守るための防弾チョッキの要所に装着される補強体に関するものである。

従来、防弾チョッキ用補強体として、高強度織物製のチョッキ本体における前身頃及び後身頃の各内面にポケットを形成し、このポケットに弾丸貫通防止用の補強材を装脱可能に装填した構成のものが提案され、補強材はチタン等の高強度板が使用されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
防弾チョッキは高強度シエルを用いた鎧状のものや、高強度繊維の積層物を用いたものが従来から知られている。
しかし、高強度シエルを用いた鎧状の防弾チョッキは、重い上に着用者の体の動きが制限される問題がある。
又、高強度繊維の積層物を用いた防弾チョッキは可撓性があり、着用者の自由な動作を許容する利点はあるが、威力のある銃器から発射される弾丸に対しては有効でなく、その貫通を防止することができなかった。

そこで、上記従来のような高強度織物製のチョッキ本体に弾丸貫通防止用の補強材を使用し、この補強材を要所に配することにより着用者の自由な動作を許容し、軽量化と防弾性能を向上させたものが提案されている。
この補強材はゴム等の可撓性シート材により複数に分断したチタン等の高強度板を両側から挾持し、補強材自体にもある程度の可撓性が生まれるようにし、着用感が良好なものとしている。

しかし、弾丸を受ける補強材は板体であるため、被弾した場合、衝突した弾丸の衝撃を平面で直接受けるため、衝突した部分の衝撃は大きく、この部分の強度で受けることになる。又着用者の受ける衝撃は大きい。

上記点より本発明は、被弾した場合、衝突した弾丸の衝撃を緩和すると共に、弾丸の直進方向が変えられ、弾丸の貫通力を弱めて弾丸の貫通の阻止を図ることを可能とした防弾チョッキ用補強体を提供しようとするものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記課題を解決するため請求項1の本発明防弾チョッキ用補強体は、防弾チョッキに装着され、弾丸貫通防止用に使用される補強体であって、この補強体は可撓性を有する板体に複数の孔が穿設され、この孔に孔の径より大径の玉の一部が嵌合し、前記孔は玉が嵌合した時に、玉が周囲の玉と互いに接触するように配設されると共に、玉と板体の周囲に可撓性を有する外装体が形成され、この外装体で玉と板体は撓曲可能に固結されていることを特徴とするものである。

このような構成とすることにより、補強体に被弾した場合、弾丸が衝突した玉が受けた衝撃は、この玉と接触している周囲の玉に順次伝播し、衝突エネルギーは弱められると共に、弾丸が衝突した玉は不動であるため弾丸を止めることができ、弾丸の貫通を確実に阻止することが可能となる。
又、弾丸は球面に衝突するため直進方向が変えられ、衝突エネルギー及び貫通力は弱められ、弾丸の貫通を阻止する。

又、玉は板体の孔に玉の一部が嵌合することにより整然と互いに接触するように配設される。そして、玉と板体が外装体で固結されているため、玉と板体も一体化し強度も増すと共に、板体及び外装体が可撓性を有するため全体が撓曲し、防弾チョッキ着用者の動きは制限されることがない。

次に、請求項2の本発明は、請求項1の防弾チョッキ用補強体において、請求項1記載の玉が嵌合された板体が2枚同一方向に向けて積層され、積層は両板を玉の位置をずらして、一方の側の板体の玉により形成された凹所に、他方の側の板体の玉の一部が嵌合され、両方の玉と板体の周囲に可撓性を有する外装体が形成され、この外装体で玉と板体は撓曲可能に固結されていることを特徴とするものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明の一実施の形態を図面に基づき説明する。
図1は請求項1の本発明防弾チョッキ用補強体の一実施の形態を示す一部切り欠いた正面図、図2は同上の断面図、図3は同上の使用状態を示す正面図、図4は板体の正面図である。

図1乃至図4において、図中1は鋼製等の金属製の玉であり、直径が約10mm位が好適なサイズである。
2は方形の可撓性を有する板体であり、この板体2はグラスファイバーや可撓性を有する合成樹脂材から形成されている。
そして、板体2に玉1の径よりも小径の孔3が複数個穿設されている。この孔3は図面では縦に4個ずつ横4列に設けられ、孔3は互い違いに千鳥状に配設され、各孔3に玉1の一部が夫々嵌合した時に、玉1が周囲の玉1と互いに接触するようになっている。尚、玉1と孔3の数は防弾チョッキ4の装着箇所により必要に応じて異なる。

この外装体5により全体が方形体に形成され、玉1及び板体2並びに外装体5で補強体6が形成されている。図面では外装体5から玉1の一部が顕われているが、勿論全体を包み込んでもよい。

このような構成の補強体6を従来の構成の防弾チョッキ4に装着するには、図3に示すような開閉可能な開口部7を有するポケット8を、防弾チョッキ4の前身頃の表側の心臓等の要所に対応する箇所に設けて、ポケット8に着脱可能に収容する。
又、防弾チョッキ4の前身頃と後身頃の両方にポケット8を設けて、身体の全面又は後面からの何れから被弾した場合でも対処し得るようにしてもよい。尚、前身頃と後身頃の裏側にポケット8を設けることもできる。
又、防弾チョッキ4で高強度繊維の積層物を用いたものにおいては、積層物の間に予め介在させておくこともできる。

次に、図5及び図6は請求項2の本発明防弾チョッキ用補強体の一実施の形態を示し、図5は同上の側面図、図6は同上の積層状態を示す平面図であり、図5及び図6において、図1乃至図4と相当する箇所にはそれと同一符号が付してある。この補強体6は請求項1記載の玉1が嵌合された板体2が2枚同一方向に向けて積層されている。

積層は両板を玉1の位置をずらして、一方の側の板体2の玉1により形成された凹所9に、他方の側の板体2の玉1の一部を嵌合する。玉1と板体2の周囲は前同様に外装体5で一体に撓曲可能に固結されている。

【発明の効果】
本発明によれば、防弾チョッキに装着された補強体に被弾すると、弾丸が衝突した玉が受けた衝撃がこの玉と接触している周囲の玉に順次伝播するため、衝突エネルギーは弱められ、防弾チョッキ着用者の受ける衝撃は緩和される。
又、弾丸は球面に衝突するため直進方向が変えられ、衝突エネルギー及び貫通力は弱められ、弾丸の貫通を阻止する効果がある。
又、補強体は可撓性を有するため、防弾チョッキ着用者は身軽な動きが可能となり、着用感も良好である。
更に、補強体は防弾チョッキの要所にのみ装着されるので、防弾チョッキの軽量化が容易となる。
