前記フトモモ科の植物のエッセンスが、全草或いは、葉部、茎部、根部、果実、種子、花蕾から選ばれる１種乃至は２種以上の極性溶媒抽出物乃至はその溶媒除去物であることを特徴とする、請求項５又は６に記載の皮膚外用剤。

人間は年齢とともにその形態が変化し、老化の兆候を見せる。皮膚に於けるこの様な兆候の一つにしわの形成が挙げられ、この様な兆候の形成の抑制が化粧料の大きなテーマとなっている。この様なしわの形成について、その発生メカニズムとしては１）エラスチンなどの皮膚弾力線維の断裂、断片化などに伴う弾力損失や２）真皮コラーゲン線維束構造の崩壊乃至はその構造の乱れ等があるといわれている。このうち、１）エラスチンなどの皮膚弾力線維の断裂、断片化などに伴う弾力損失については、エラスチンの補給や大豆蛋白などによるエラスチンの断裂の抑制等の対応策が挙げられているが、２）真皮コラーゲン線維束構造の崩壊乃至はその構造の乱れに対しては、僅かにウルソール酸及びその誘導体に真皮コラーゲン線維束の再構築作用が知られているにすぎず、真皮コラーゲン線維束構造を再構築する、新たな真皮コラーゲン線維束再構築剤の開発が望まれていた。

この様な状況に鑑みて、本発明者らは、真皮コラーゲン線維束構造を再構築する、新たな真皮コラーゲン線維束再構築剤を求めて鋭意研究努力を重ねた結果、フトモモ科（Myrtaceae）の植物のエッセンスにそのような作用を見いだし発明を完成させた。即ち、本発明は次に示す技術に関するものである。
（１）フトモモ科（Myrtaceae）の植物のエッセンスからなる真皮コラーゲン線維束再構築剤。
（２）フトモモ科（Myrtaceae）の植物が、フトモモ科チョウジノキ（Syzygium aromaticum L. MERR. Et PERRY）であることを特徴とする、（１）に記載の真皮コラーゲン線維束再構築剤。
（３）前記フトモモ科（Myrtaceae）の植物のエッセンスが、全草或いは、葉部、茎部、根部、果実、種子、花蕾から選ばれる１種乃至は２種以上の極性溶媒抽出物乃至はその溶媒除去物であることを特徴とする、（１）又は（２）に記載の真皮コラーゲン線維束再構築剤。
（４）（１）〜（３）何れか一つに記載の真皮コラーゲン線維束再構築剤を含有する、しわの改善或いは予防用の皮膚外用剤。
（５）フトモモ科（Myrtaceae）の植物のエッセンスを含有することを特徴とする、しわの改善或いは予防用の皮膚外用剤。
（６）フトモモ科（Myrtaceae）の植物が、フトモモ科チョウジノキ（Syzygium aromaticum L. MERR. Et PERRY）であることを特徴とする、（５）に記載の皮膚外用剤。
（７）前記フトモモ科の植物のエッセンスが、全草或いは、葉部、茎部、根部、果実、種子、花蕾から選ばれる１種乃至は２種以上の極性溶媒抽出物乃至はその溶媒除去物であることを特徴とする、（５）又は（６）に記載の皮膚外用剤。
