Abstract

1462219 Cutting webs into sheets GENCO INTERNATIONAL GEHLE & KUMMER GmbH & CO 23 Dec 1974 [28 Feb 1974] 55432/74 Heading B8R A corrugated board web 1 is fed through a transverse cutter 3 and a longitudinal cutter 5 and thence by suction conveyers 11, 11<SP>1</SP> through transverse cutters 13, 13<SP>1</SP> and thereafter by suction conveyers 19 to stacks. In one form of operation, the cutter 3 is not operative, the web is cut into strips by the cutter 5, some of the strips pass to conveyer 11 and some to conveyer 11<SP>1</SP>, and the conveyers 11, 11<SP>1</SP> are driven faster than the supply speed of the web so as to smooth the web strips longitudinally, the strips are cut into sheets by the cutters 13, 13<SP>1</SP> and the conveyers 19 are driven faster than the conveyers 11, 11<SP>1</SP> to maintain the smoothing action. In another form of operating, the web is initially cut into sheets by the cutter 3, and in this case the conveyers 11, 11<SP>1</SP> are driven at the web supply speed. The conveyers 11, 11<SP>1</SP> may each comprise a plurality of laterally spaced perforated belts, which may be parallel to one another or may diverge slightly in the direction of movement.
