Abstract
1403766 Surface aerators J R KAELIN 21 Nov 1972 [23 Nov 1971] 53679/72 Heading B1C Apparatus for the surface aeration of liquids comprises a rotor 5 for circulating and introducing oxygen or oxygen mixture into a liquid, the interior of the rotor being subdivided into a plurality of liquid conveying channels 2 by means of blades 1. The blades I are provided at the rotor inlet side with cutting edges 3 when extended in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the rotor and cooperate with at least one stationary blade 4 mounted on the rotor shaft to perform a shearing action as the rotor rotates and wherein the angle of intersection between each cutting edge of the rotor and the cooperating cutting edge of the stationary blade successively increases and decreases. The cutting edges of both the rotor blades and the stationary blade may be of zig-zag or corrugated configuration.
