Abstract

993,075. Boring-heads. ERICKSON TOOL CO. April 3, 1963 [Feb. 8, 1963], No.13214/63 Heading B3C. A boring-head comprises a body 11, a cutter-slide 13 movable transversely in the body 11 bya bar 27 engaging a recess 30 in the slide, and a graduated sleeve 14 for moving the bar axially of the body 11. Screwthreads in the sleeve engage threads on the ends of the bar, which is moved in the inclined, cam recess 30 by rotation of the sleeve. This is retained on the body 11 by a cap 17 fixed by screws 36. The body has two mutually-perpendicular guide slots, one for the slide 13 and the other for the bar 27. A locking pin 40 may be clamped axially against a flange 34 on each side of the slide 13 by rotation of a screw18 which acts on a wedge 44 engaging plungers 39 having inclined ends bearing on the pins 40. The screw engages threads in a sleeve 41 which, during tightening of the screw, moves outwardly by a small amount, camming a conical pin 42 into clamping engagement with the end of the sleeve 14.
