Abstract

992,123. Seals. LUXEMBOURGEOISE DE BREVETS & DE PARTICIPATIONS. Jan. 17, 1962 [Jan. 24, 1961], No. 1745/62. Headings F2B and F2T. A packing ring 2 of resiliently deformable material located between piston and cylinder members in an annular recess in one of the members has an axial section which is rounded at one end 12 to abut the end wall of the recess on the lower pressure side thereof and which is bifurcated at its other end to present two projecting lips 3, 4 on the higher pressure side of the packing ring, one of the lips making contact with the cylindrical bottom wall of the recess and the other lip making contact only with the other member, the side of the packing facing the latter member having at least one annular depression 11. The lip 3 of the packing ring is preferably shorter than the lip 4. The depression 11 serves to retain lubricant.
