991,888. Measuring-tapes. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Feb. 26,1963 [Jan. 16, 1962], No. 1600/62. Addition to 991,887. Heading G1M. A tape measure comprises two tapes 10, 11 wound on coils 12 which may be provided with a rewind spring. Each tape extends from its coil past the other coil and leaves the housing 13 with its concave side facing the same direction. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 the tapes 10, 11 both have the same transverse curvature but in the embodiment of Fig. 2 they have opposite curvature. Tape 11 may be locked by a catch 16 in predetermined extended positions and scales corresponding to these positions are provided on tape 10 so that the overall length can be read directly. Specification 940,982 also is referred to.
