990, 929. Terrestrial globes. E. BUCCIOTTI, G. DE PORTIS, and L. FIORI. Nov. 30, 1962 [Dec. 1, 1961], No. 45510/62. Heading G5G. A method of making a terrestrial globe with two superimposed prints comprises the steps of (a) printing flat the two hemispheres of one layer in one manner (b) printing flat the other two hemispheres in another manner e.g. political as distinct from geographical (c) coupling together in perfect register the two sheets in a hot press so as to obtain two double-layered flat hemispheres, (d) moulding the two flat hemispheres into two half-globes, and (e) welding the two halves together. At least one of the layers is semi-transparent so when lit from outside one tenestrial plan is seen, but when lit from inside the two plans can be seen together. Each layer comprises a sheet of plastic material 1 having printed matter 2. Various modifications are described regarding on which side of the material the printed matter 2 and 4 occures. The outer layer may be moulded to obtain reliefs as shown in Fig. 8.
