Abstract

An aqueous suspension of zinc powder or zinc alloy powder incorporates a wetting agent and colloidal silica as a dispersing agent. The suspension may be added to a solution of sodium or potassium silicate containing hydrochloric acid, to form a coating composition. It may contain stabilizers to slow down the reaction between the zinc and the silicate.
