Abstract
995,990. Heel lifts. ESSEX PRODUCTS Inc. Jan. 31, 1964 [Feb. 18, 1963], No. 4330/64. Heading A3B. A top lift 10 protrudes from a cup 2 in which it is held by prong or like locking elements 17<SP>1</SP> secured within the cup, the latter being provided at one end of a dowel 11 which secures the lift to a heel. The dowel, to be received in a bore in the heel, is of hard metal such as hardened steel and has means such as ridges 15 to bite into the walls of the bore. As shown the dowel head has a flange 17 engaged in a recess 4<SP>1</SP> in the cup and the cup and dowel are locked together by swaging or rivetting. The dowel is also split and expanded to form prongs 17. The lift is preferably formed by moulding a resilient plastic, e.g. a urethane, into the cup. The dowel and cup may be formed as a one piece product. Specification 853,118 is referred to.
