Abstract

995,098. Discharging storage chambers from below; screw conveyers. S. S. JOHANSSON. April 4, 1962, No. 12978/62. Headings B8A and B8E. A device for discharging a silo 1 or similar storage chamber comprises a conveyer worm 15 disposed radially immediately above the bottom 3 and driven by bevel gearing 16, 17 so as to be rotatable about its own axis as well as being arranged to revolve orbitally over the bottom. A casing 13 encloses the bevel gearing 16, 17 and is connected to a sleeve 10 in which the drive shaft 18 is disposed. The shaft 18 is driven by a motor 20 and if the friction of the worm 15 on the bottom 3 is insufficient the sleeve 10 and thus the casing 13 and worm 15 are caused to rotate within the silo by a motor 22. Material such as cutter shavings is supplied through a duct 5 and is drawn through a central discharge opening 4 into a chamber 6 from which it is withdrawn by a worm 9.
