[Also in Divisions B5 and F2] A component to provide a key for the plaster &c. covering of walls and ceilings comprises a layer of hard foamed plastics material 1 to which is secured on one or both sides a ribbed expanded metal sheet 5 the ribs of which fit into grooves 3 in the plastics layer. The sheets provide the key for the plaster or other wall &c. covering and are secured by bitumen or a synthetic binder 4, so that the sheets either rest on the layer 1 or are supported away from it. The binder may be confined to the grooves and squeezes out through apertures 7 in the ribs or is applied as a coating to both the layer 1 and to the sheet. In a component provided with sheets on each of two opposed faces of the plastics layer the ribs of one metal sheet are either parallel and offset, or extend transversely to those of the other.
