Abstract

970,738. Coating-apparatus; spraying. MER- COL PRODUCTS Ltd. May 3, 1963 [May 11, 1962], No. 18208/62. Headings B2B and B2F. A nozzle apparatus for carrying out the coating of the internal surface of a pipe as claimed in Specification 970,737 comprises a nozzle-carrying member 29, a cylindrical stern portion 10, a valve body 13 and an adapter 16 formed integrally with a valve member 15. The apparatus also comprises a rubber disc-like member 43-slotted both radially and circum- ferentially to provide radially extending resilient fingers-which is located on the stern portion 10 and serves to position the apparatus centrally in the pipe during the coating process. The adapter 16 incorporates a screw connector 19 for the coating material supply pipe and is threadedly engaged with the valve body 13 such that rotation of the adapter serves to move a ball 23, fixed to the valve member 15, relative to the lower end of a bore 20 in the body 13. Coating material passing up this bore enters a bore 11 in the portion 10 from which it is forced radially inwardly through filter gauze carried by a cylindrical member 36. The material then passes through a bore 42 to a chamber 34 behind a filter disc 32. The thus twice filtered material issues from the apparatus through three equi-angularly spaced nozzles 31 at an angle of 45 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the apparatus.
